The life of a taxi driver in small town USA

When I first got the job I didn't know it would be such long hours, and the pay isn't hourly, its a percentage of the fare, which is fine, if the calls come in. Obviously right now I'm working, but here I am on steemit doing steemit things and not driving! That's fine by me, but if I'm not making much money doing the driving, I may just get on the ball and steemit!!

I think maybe Uber would be more of a money maker but again outta small town America, not many people will be able to afford it. Maybe I'm wrong, something definitely has to give! My goal was to get more people on steemit through my driving them, i have found not too many people want to talk let alone listen, so for now I'll do what I do until next time...

Taxi cab confessions

What would you do when a customer asks you to drive them across state lines for $200 a day?

Someone asked me this on my first night! Me being me knew the deal. He wanted me to be a mule...ummm... no thanks I am a mother, not losing everything I have gained over these years.

What would you do if someone was so drunk they couldn't find the door handle?

I've been there, this poor girl was so oblivious to the world around her, I parked the car, grabbed the keys, and walked her to her house unlocked the door for her and helped her inside.

What would you do if someone smelled so bad you couldn't breathe?

Me, I got pulled over! Lol!! The officer approaches the car and shines his light in the vehicle walks up to the passenger side and I rolled down the window, he asked if everything was ok, I said yes, just trying to get these guys home, he said you looked angry thinking to myself I was like hell yes I am angry officer!!! He takes my license back to his vehicle then moments later walks back to give me my ID, but wouldn't come all the way up to the car, lol. I again thought to myself, can you smell it officer! Probable cause lmao! SOS!!! He tells me get them home and stay safe!!! Now don't get me wrong I am not one to be rude, these are only a few of my experiences this far as a taxi driver, and it can be pretty interesting!

Hopefully there will be more exciting tales from the taxi driving, but for now this is what I got!

Most people are going home from work or going to work from home, no extremely telling tales but I'm sure there will be more to come! This town is full of interesting individuals!

I have gotten to talk to a few people about steemit, one is a professor at ball state university who is also a writer!!! I shared with him what we are doing with the #informationfinding championship and he seems like he is interested! I really hope he gets on board with steemit since he is also a student who loves networking!

Hopefully I will be able to keep talking and helping the people here and show them that with steemit and blockchain tech they can overcome their struggles!! I may be able to but again how does one show someone their future can be brighter if they don't see an issue?!

oooh taxi cab drivers really go through alot but am glad your promoting steemit in your way and here in Africa a taxi carries over 14 passengers so there main challenge are rude customers besides that the taxes are high

I couldn't imagine 14 people at once! I bet the drivers get frustrated!

For sure they do they need respect beçause what they do no one cañ do it

Thats hilarious! Crazy even small town america like that all the crazy stories that arise! I hope you stay safe working @charisma777 and more exciting stories to come :)

I'm sure there is more to come! Thanks, I am protected tho! Actually thinking of buying a gun just in case, but I may not get approved for the license lol.

What an original way to tlrecruit new SteemIt members, @charisma777

I'm hoping to do a bit more as time goes by! There are so many thingsI could do by "meeting" such a diverse part of my community! From the lows to the highs! Change will happen!

That's a great way to introduce steemit. As a passenger though, I like to keep my peace. I am not the chatty type. Not only as a passenger but also my personality but if the topic is something interesting like steemit, I am open.

Why would people want to be driven to across state lines? Is $200 worth it? Obviously I know nothing about driving let alone across any lines lol!

I allow the conversation to flow, steemit comes up a lot because people ask what didI do before this, I tell them that I have been of work for about a year before taking on the taxi job andI had spent many hours on steemit and then the magic happens!!! Lol well for me and some ask how do i join some think I'm crazy and its a scam those who ask for more I gift them four pictures I had printed of the original 4 images from the @ifc contest which has the websites address on the backs i tell them to gift the other 3 to a friend! I hope those who have received them will check out out for themselves!

Maybe I should start handing out flyers too haha! I have to wear a mask if I am to do that. I'm just a shy person. We can't blame people to think of it at first as a scam because it's too good to be true. If I had no experience in previous blogging sites, I would have said the same thing. I was skeptic when I joined my first ever paying blogging site but glad I did. You have done your part and it is up to those who receive that what they would do with it.

Wow! Sounds exciting already! I hope that you are enjoying the ride too! So nice of you to walk someone to their door! Going the extra mile, that's compassion!

I would want someone to help me if i was in that situation

Wow the things you do to preach about Steemit, @charisma777, you are an inspiration!!! mY salute and respect for you :)

Give them a discount if they join the @ifc!

That would be awesome lol

Oh could we exchange stories. I'm a dispatch for our local taxi company.

I'm sure you have many awesome stories as well lol! I'm never amazed although some days a bit weirded out by things said! Would be cool to do a show like they did on Hbo years back lol

I jokingly suggested to one of my drivers he should start a page on FB..so he did. The drivers see much more than I do, but oh boy the stuff we get in the office, sometimes make you wonder where have 'normal' people gone to

Haha where are you from? My small town is full of such different people but some make me wonder where I the world did you come from!

Im in Grand Junction, Colorado. Some call it the armpit of Colorado LOL

Lol I've heard the same around my town lol

Sounds like quite an adventure! :) It's great you have such a positive attitude about it and that you're also trying to talk about steemit and the IFC to peoples! But yeah that must be tough if most don't really want to talk. And lol about the poor drunk girl and the smelly individuals/cop experience.

I have heard good things about Uber, but.. I suppose it depends on the location? I dunno. You may want to look into it, the people may be more chatty.

Hopefully the professor checks things out and, yeah.. It is difficult trying to explain a brighter possibility to those who don't want to see it and are sort of content with the status quo. I struggle with this often.. I don't understand why so many people still use Facebook and other social media when there's one that pays where you can't be censored.. shrug

It is definitely an adventure! I feel its best to keep positive no matter what. Although its not each moment of every day that i am positive, I do try my best no matter what! Glad to share with others if they want to know more but I'm not pushing anyone out of their comfort zone!

That's a great attitude to have! And yeah, no need to try to be pushy with the info that could make people less interested just out of spite.. A lot of humans are weird and want to do the opposite of what they are told.. Even if it doesn't make any sense, lol. So important to be careful and sensitive of stuff like that.

Hi @charisma777! You mentioned you are protected when you're driving, i wonder how so? It must be a scart job sometimes. But, like you say, borringish most of the time. These tales of a cab driver don't surprise me. I've been that obnoxious drunk girl before in a cab. Not quite the same but dreadul nonetheless! Steeming would be s great pairing for your job. Good for you to fill the gaps in a good way.

Congratulations on bring chosen by the @asapers!!! Awesome! Hope to see you around more 😊✌

I am protected no matter the job. I feel our words can save us in any situation, although there are some people who will still be out to hat no matter what, i try not to think that bad will happen but I'm also prepared to put up a fight if need be.

You make more than just a taxi driver! All those thankless favors.

Otherwise, recruit them all into steemit!

And just s you know, i was cued in here from the @asapers! Glad to meet a fellow member

There are a lot of great tippers out there! I have been trying my best to get the word out there for sure!

We can do only so much, but it is always worthwhile. Thanks, and good day/night!

There's only so much time in a day! Hoping to share more later. You also enjoy your night/ day!!

I will. Its night here now. Thanks
