Home Sweet Home!! Holiday over but we had a great time!

So our little 3 day holiday has come to an end. We packed the car and cleaned up the mess the 10 children had created and headed for the highway, but not befor one last swim in the pool.

As I suspected 3 days was more than enough, all of my little ones were asking when we would be going home last night, they missed their beds and their own toys. They handled it rather well though and I suspect after this we may try to take another holiday, hopefully with my partner joining us next time.

The kids didn’t want to go out exploring the Gold Coast which was a little bit of a shame as their is so much to see and do there, however mine are content with the pool and their computers. I think the sheer amount of traffic was enough to put them of leaving our lovely rented house. We all enjoyed the view from the balcony though.

Miss 1 enjoyed doing some morning yoga on the balcanoy as well, while Miss 3 just ran around all morning hanging of of everything, including the pool fence which she turned into her own personal climbing frame. Gonna have to watch her if we ever get a pool as she will be climbing over it pretty darn quick.

The older four all went out to the back dock behind the house to do some fishing with their Uncle and their cousins and they all had a ball. Master 10 is still gloating that he is the only one to catch a fish, but they all had fun trying. It was great to see them enjoy an activity outside.

The boys didn’t do any therapy sessions but they certainly got some gross motor skill exercises done in the pool, as none of my youngest four can swim properly yet it was amazing to see how far they came in just a few days. Master 5 made the most improvement, as he has no awareness of his body and how to control it, teaching him how to swim is very difficult.

On day one he wouldn’t leave the steps of the pool at all. He is unable to float, even with a pool noodle or a life vest as he can’t keep still so his body constantly flips and moves and he ends up under the water. This has made him very fearful in the pool, but with some assistance from his older sister and brother he has gained an enormous amount of confidence and today was jumping in the pool where they would catch him.

Their selflessness and kindness in giving up their own free swimming time to help him made me so proud of both of them. Miss 12 also spent hours carrying Master 5 around the pool and attempting to keep him afloat so that he wasn’t left out of all he fun. It was really beautiful. Trying to play Marco Polo with a giant five year old on top of you can’t be easy lol.

They all had a marvellous time but were very happy to be back in their own home tonight. I have not heard a peep since we arrived back 3 hours ago as they are all so exhausted from all the fun that they lay down together and are quietly watching a movie. Some were exhausted before we even left this morning, this is Miss 1 passed out on the kitchen floor as I packed us up ready to leave.
