So the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea have closed and now many sports fans are turning their attention toward the 2018 Commonwealth Games Gold Coast Australia from 4-15th April 2018.
OK for many you’ll be asking What the hell is the Commonwealth Games. Well here’s the offical explanation.
The Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018) will welcome more than 6,600 athletes and team officials from 70 Commonwealth nations and territories to the Gold Coast and event cities Brisbane, Cairns and Townsville, to share in the celebration of sport, entertainment and culture.
The largest sporting event to be staged in Australia this decade, GC2018 will feature the largest integrated sports program in Commonwealth Games history, comprising 18 sports and seven para-sports.
Beach Volleyball, Para Triathlon and Women’s Rugby Sevens will make their Commonwealth Games debuts and for the first time at a Commonwealth Games, an equal number of men’s and women’s medal events will be contested.
Of course what would a major sporting event be without a colourful mascot, GC2018 has Borobi, the bright blue Koala.
My family have secured seats for the closing Ceremony and hope to take part in many of the free activities and celebrations as well watching some of the sporting events during the games.
Is anyone else planning on visiting the Gold Coast during the 2018 Commonwealth Games?
Have you ever attended a major international sporting event? Any tips your can give?
Thanks @bearone for the teamaustralia banner

That sounds like fun! And it's by the Gold Coast, so it's going to be beautiful. Have a great time.
Thanks for letting me know the Olympics were over. Now I know. I had seen a clip on someone's tv about downhill skiing, but that's the only thing I saw of them this year. :/
