The search for Kong

This looks so much like Skull Island!

The respond from the others were just oohs and wahhhs which is similar to wow as the boat nears the island.

Seriously, guys. This reminds me so much of Skull Island! Where Kong is! You know? King Kong?
No one else shares my excitement. Fine.

A touristy photo of yourself in a beautiful place such as Skull Island ;D is a must.

Behold, Bohey Dulang, a mountainous island formed by the remnants of an ancient volcano. Separated from Bodgaya, the biggest island in Tun Sakaran Marine Park, by a shallow channel. The crater forming it is now flooded with seawater creating a large, majestic lagoon 25m deep.

We were so lucky with the weather. It was such a beautiful day, I ignored everything else (like putting on sun protection) and baked in the salty air, and amazing view. The plan was to hike up the 600m to the peak of Bohey Dulang, get some touristy photos and later, snorkeling nearby.

It was about 11:00am when we started the hike up. Standard time to hike with would be early morning but we flew in the very same morning from Kota Kinabalu. It also rained the night before and made the hike up tricky. The ground was muddy and steep, not to mention trail was narrow so navigating is a bit more dangerous especially with crowds squeezing by. Highlight of the hike? Seeing a kid in a Bruce Lee yellow jumpsuit.

The photo above does it no justice. The view from the peak is breathtaking, that I regretted I did not have my dslr on me. I nicked the photo below from the web.

For years I've only seen beautiful photos from friends and online so to finally be there is just so surreal. The view!

But of course, what goes up,must come down. A nice lunch by the jetty and soon after, we headed out to Mantabuan where we will be snorkeling.

Along the way we saw a lot of turtles. Sure I've seen turtles when I go diving but heck, there were so many turtles that whatever I thought are just rocks/corals were actually turtles. Imagine my amusement when the rocks or corals moved. " That was a freaking turtle! Oh wait, are those dolphins?"

Shrieking got louder as we got closer to the pod. "Pilot whales!"

We were pretty damn lucky to see 3 different pods that afternoon. We couldn't get closer to them so we went along to Mantabuan for snorkeling. I didn't have an underwater camera so unfortunately won't be able to share uw photos here.

Yours truly, @juced before I got baked raw somewhere near the lagoon. Also, this photo is a remind that I need to buy myself new sunnies. Those are not mine.

I am missing the sun and sea already so that means, I shall be diving soon. Anyone else dive?
