How to be Happier in Life?

There are thousands reasons to be sad and depress of. The world is not perfect, It's a broken world with many problems. War, politics, diseases, health issues, inflation, economy downturn, money issues, stress in Jobs, business problems, , credit cards debts, divorce, relationship that didn't work, bad friendship with even your so called good friends leaving you, old friends no longer your friends anymore, high installment amount for your home loan, struggling for daily necessities, looking at the price of the MENU before you order a meal. Some students are even sad for not getting straight A's, pressure from the parents, some unhappy with their looks, unhappy with their weight, unhappy with their body shape. Worrying about tomorrow, worrying about money, worrying about losing a job, worrying about so many things.... it can go on an on...

There are many different ways to make your self feel better and stop worrying but many of them couldn't sustain long.

Below are some ways that i found helpful.

For Example:

  1. Showing gratitude
    We often complain about our life, focus on the negativity and what we don't have, what we did not achieve, what have we failed, the mistakes we had done, the person we had failed, not performing well. STOP that! now start counting all the blessings you got. Tell yourself that you are still alive because it's a MIRACLE and it's because of HIS GRACE and HIS BLESSINGS. As long as you are still alive, it's the best thing in life! You still can fight for it. Be contented with what you have. When you start seeing little wonderful things that happen around you and your life, you will be grateful for what you have.

  2. Be Restful
    Rest in work not Rest from work. I don't mean you can stop working and be a lazy bum. I mean while you are working, don't stress your self. have a restful heart. your heart must be in a restful position. You know even if you are stressful, things won't turn better or may even turn worse. So, have a peaceful and restful heart amidst challenges. Take a deep breathe....inhale...exhale.....tell yourself it's gonna be alright....

  3. SMILE, stand straight, don't hunch and look up.
    psychologically, if you smile even if you are sad or unhappy, walk straight with the right posture. It indirectly will give a positive signal to yourself.

  4. Read Positive Articles
    Stop reading and watching negative news be it newspaper, youtube, google or even facebook posts with friends showing off their vacation, new car, boy friend, girl friends, wives, husbands, kids or what ever.
    Newspaper sells because of negative news especially accidents. Human are tend to listen to negative news but this will KILL you silently. It will accumulate the negativity bit by bit and one day it will pollute your whole mind.
    Start reading motivational books, listening motivational speeches. BLOCK, UNFOLLOW, UNFRIEND (sorry to say that) all the negative news, posts or people around you that you think will affect your emotion. Get away from anything that will contribute to your DEPRESSION. Keep far away from them. STOP listening to sad love songs. Listen to happy motivational songs that give you HOPE.
    If you are a christian, reading the right christian books or sermons; focus on Jesus and not your self.

  5. Have a well balanced life
    Work is important but a well balanced life is important. Life is short. How many more 10 years do you have?
    Work, Have fun as long as don't hurt others, spend time with friends and family and love ones, do charity, contribute something to the society. Not to be too extreme in any...

  6. Learn to Accept & Forgive
    Many people are unhappy due to grudges and unhappiness caused by others. Learn to Accept the reality and Forgive someone will helps you a lot. I know it's hard to forgive but if you start to tell your self to forgive someone who had hurt you. You will free yourself from the bondage. Some people said " I can forgive but i can't forget". Well......Dont be a tape recorder and keep rewinding and replaying will do. Try to Stop thinking of it after you have forgiven someone.

  7. Spend your money wisely
    I dont know about you but most people feel good after doing donation whether to the church via tithings or helping the poor on the street. If you spend all your money for pleasure, you may get some FUN but FUN and happiness are different. Happiness is the JOY in your heart with peace.... FUN is temporary. Drinking in a bar and going to a party can give you temporary FUN but it's not permanent.

  8. Talk to a friend
    If you are sad, don't even stay alone. You will feel more lonely if you are alone. Try talking to a friend but please find the right friend who can give you good advise and help you. Not a Fake friend. Try getting counselling that helps you if you feel that you have depression.

  9. Do something that make you happy
    You can do anything that makes you happy as long as its positive and not hurting yourself or others.
    Do exercise, eat something you like, listen to your favorite songs, eat your favorite food, go travel, get a pet to accompany you etc.

  10. Write in steemit
    Express your feelings in Steemit and the people here will support you! I believe so because it's a positive community :)

Each day has enough trouble of its own.


Whenever i am unhappy, i suggest to tell your self this " Let not my heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid" everyday and also " Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

Thank you for sharing the positivity on Steemit. Matthew 6:34 is my life verse. I am going through a lot of hardships these past few days and this is something that inspires me to do better. Trust in the Lord with all of our hearts and lean not on our own understanding.
