Finally I am at home in my countryside. I spent few weeks in Belgrade which is the biggest city in Serbia. I love Belgrade but sometime I just want to run away from it because of traffic and a bunch of people. Yesterday I came to my village nearby mountin Jastrebac. And I was feeling like I was born again. Blue montain on the horizon, geen trees in my yard and a lot of beautiful flowers all around. My cats and my dogs and song of birds. I will show you just a smal part of it, some flowers in my yard.

This is elder (Sambucus nigra). In my language we call it zova. My mother makes amazing juice from its flovers. And my people believed that this tree is home for some demonic creatures. We call them vile. However, that was in deep past and know one of those trees is in my yard.

You cannot imagine the scent of those flowers. It's amazing.


The name of this plant is Lamb's-ear (Stachys byzantina) and in my country we call it Rabit's ears (Zečje uši). The interesting thing with this plant from my yard is that it started to grow in the hole inside of the dead log. Why? I don't know.

This is iris and in my language we call it perunika. I guess this name has some connections whit old Slavic god Perun.

This is peony (Paeonia) and we call it božur. My people also believed that battlefield on Kosovo (1389) was full of beautiful white peonies before the battle started. After terrible battle from the ground started to grow only red peony.

This is birch (Betula). We call it breza. I am sorry I did't take whole photo but the tree is too big. I just take a photo of this small part because I wanted to show you this spot. It looks like an eye.
