I was on Android for close to 3 years. I watch a lot of streaming video on my phone. During the period of 2010–2013, I never found a phone that would play video smoothly. If I wanted to browse movies on Netflix, the app would have really lousy lag. In addition, at that time most apps would release their latest features that I wanted on the iPhone one and much later on Android. This did not change even when I bought newer phones. The phones would get hot - especially if I was using the GPS and streaming Pandora at the same time. I got my wife an iPhone in 2012, and she liked it very much. I got extremely frustrated at the end of 3 years with Android.
I switched to the iPhone in 2013, and I have never found a reason to switch back to Android. Everything just works. My wife’s phone lasted until this year, which means the phone lasts for about 5 years. And now Groupon sells refurbished iPhones at cheap prices. It is possible that Android may have gotten better since when I last used it. However, I have never had any problems with the iPhone and I would not risk switching back to something else. Besides, I use Facetime a lot to call my parents in India. It’s just another extra way to reach my parents for free, that is not present on Android.
Although android has got a lot better since the 2.3 gingerbread days, it is still a bit of a mess. Having to support so many hardware configurations truly limits it's performance. I used windows phone for years and just recently switched to an iphone. I am happy I made the switch. Good post!
