Have you ever wondered what life was like in the times of your grandparents when compared to yours? Like all arguments, one side states that those where the simple and overall better times while others insist that technology changed our lives to the better. Although modern life does share a lot of similarities with the old times, it still has a lot of drastic differences.

To begin with, transportation, which evolved dramatically since the days of trains that ran on steam engines. Planes are more comfortable. For example, turbulence and noise handling technologies have advanced to the point where they are no longer as much of a worry for passengers as they were before. Moreover, cars are now safer than ever before. For instance, along with their improved chasee design, they also feature better composition of materials to ensure the safety of the passengers. Furthermore, travel times which are slashed by modern trains. One example of this is how modern trips are measured in mere hours compared to the typical travel times of days like they were in the past.

Another point, lifestyles have changed significantly. Firstly, modern cuisines have been heavily influenced by the introduction of fast foods. For instance, most of the meals teenagers and youngsters consume come from big international fast food franchises. Secondly, fashion has become very varied and much more fast-paced than before. Namely, fashion nowadays changes on a daily basis and are now independent of seasons and weather. Thirdly are social rules and norms which are now much more laid back. To illustrate this is the fact that people nowadays just do and say whatever that comes to their mind without thinking about the consequences of what they say unlike people in the past.

Lastly, education is now almost unrecognizable from its past form. Class room’s efficiencies increased a lot. Table layouts changed and classrooms are fitted with smartboards and projectors. One more point is that training is no longer done using real objects like planes and buses, but are rather done on computer simulations. Finally, designing has gone from the point where pen and paper where the most important tools to any artist or engineer, to become obsolete with the introduction of graphics tablets and computer-aided design.

In short, life has certainly just evolved in every aspect and has become more sophisticated, but although it is now more complicated than ever before, I think that this change is for the best of humanity.
