Amid the many circles looking forward to the debut of the latest CPU Threadripper fleet that is staying digadang as one of the main challengers of high-end desktop processors made by Intel to come, AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su is rumored to have revealed the retail packaging of its flagship processor through one of the posts on his Twitter account recently.
From its retail packaging, AMD looks to choose a large retail box that has an Eye of Sauron motif with a Threadripper processor peering behind a plastic window. Related to previous rumors that says that AMD will membundling AIO cooler on the processor, it seems that it is not proven considering there is not enough room for the existence of AIO coolers on the retail packaging although the size looks rather large though.
About the price of its own market, AMD reportedly also has set the processor Threadripper 1950X (16 cores / 32 threads) and processor Threadripper 1920X (12 cores / 24 threads) each worth $ 999 and $ 799. As one of the high-end AMD processors The upcoming model, both Threadripper processor models empower TR4 4.096-pin socket paired with the X399 chipset. Instead of using 64 PCIe lines on all of its Threadripper models, what AMD does is supposedly opposed to Intel's strategy that disables PCIe lines on all lower-class processor models.
The AMD Threadripper 1950X processor has a 3.4GHz frequency base and a 4.0GHz boost frequency, while the AMT Threadripper 1920X processor has a 3.5GHz frequency band and a 4.0GHz boost frequency. The existence of both processor models will compete with the ranks of Intel X-Series CPU that has just launched. Although Intel has launched Skylake-X, but the processor is considered not as a new model on the market. Considering the Intel Core i9-7900X processor currently comes with only 10 cores and 20 threads, it certainly opens an opportunity for AMD with a larger core thread and thread through its latest Threadripper model to lure the existing market share.
While the subject itself, both models of Threadripper processors began to be marketed in early August. In addition, AMD reportedly has also indicated that it will release more information related to its newest leading Threadripper and Vega products through the SIGGRAPH event which is likely to take place next week.
