Are More Drone Deliveries Coming Soon?

Companies like Amazon, Walmart, Google, UPS, and others, have been looking at the possibility of using drones to deliver goods. We already see that drones are being used around the world to deliver a wide variety of items.

We have already seen that drones have delivered life-saving equipment, medical supplies, emergency goods, and now even Girl Scout Cookies too in the U.S. It might not be that long from now that we start seeing many more deliveries being made this way.

Google has allegedly stated that they expected more than 100k daily drone flights to take place over a city like Los Angeles sometime in the future.

When we finally see a full drone delivery network come to life that could mean millions of drone deliveries being made around the country on a daily basis. Getting to that goal isn't going to be easy though.

UPS and other companies have already tested drone deliveries in different residential areas.
Amazon recently unveiled their Prime Air delivery drone and managed to get certified by the FAA in 2020.
Overall, companies like Amazon and others are looking to use this technology to help them cover rural areas, providing a much more cost effective and efficient delivery solution.

They would still be using delivery vehicles, with a drone delivering a package from the vehicle and then returning to the driver along the route. It has been estimated that delivery drones could help to save billions.

In many regions it might be difficult to implement that expansive network of drone deliveries, considering air traffic and other concerns etc. The task isn't impossible though and companies around the U.S. have been working on this for years now.

For those who have already experienced a delivery this way there are many who say they are open to future drone deliveries, they value the convenience. There have been many individuals who haven't been happy with drones flying around their communities though and sometimes that has meant getting destructive with those drones from time to time.

A number of consumers today prefer drone delivery and if they can make the operations more efficient for those businesses then it might not be that much longer before that drone network truly comes to life.

Today in many regions there are still millions waiting for that opportunity to experience drone deliveries. The potential for a drone delivery network is getting closer though, with a growing number of companies testing worldwide on delivering various items.

In the U.S. market Walmart has tried making deliveries with drones in some regions already, among other companies. UPS has tested as well and they have also received approval to operate a drone delivery fleet too. Within the next several years we could see thousands more of these drone deliveries in the U.S. take place.
