"I Have Never Let My Schooling Interfere With My Education."
The Culture of Our World is so Upside Down.
We are taught from a young age that we have to obey the rules and memorize material that really has no bearing on our lives. I was told, when I was a kid, that I would not be able to carry a calculator everywhere I went. The teacher lied!
I now have a calculator, phone, encyclopedia, Bitcoin wallet, live video, marketplace, mail, music player, camera and almost anything I desire in the palm of my hand. Sure the teachers don't have crystal balls but they teach us that everything in life has defined laws but that is false!

It Took Time to Train You.
Imagine all the hours you spent in the traditional classroom. The teachers hammered home the subjects that the state felt you needed to know to be successful employees. Where they really let us down was in the ability to live in the real world. Why were we not taught how to manage our money, how to sell, what really happened in history and life hacks? As George Carlin so gracefully put it, "they want obedient workers". The system was set up over a century ago and nobody seems to want to change.
Retraining Your Mind is Difficult but Rewarding.
Did you know that it takes about 10,000 hours of doing something regularly before you become an expert in a given subject? This applies to almost any endeavor in life. For me is was training myself how to hack social media. Now I am learning and applying blockchain technology to projects. I understand that the learning curve has been steep but thanks to some very smart people I have been able to increase the velocity of my learning.
Have you ever wondered why so many sons of Major League Baseball players make it to the league? The reason is simple, their father was an expert in baseball. He guided them along the way and taught them all the necessary hacks. In the general populations case our parents would have had to spend thousands on baseball camps for our kids to rub shoulders with major league baseball players.
The same goes for any subject you want to learn. If you want to be a social media pro you can follow me or some of my peers like @LanySullivan here on Steemit. If you want to understand blockchain tech you can learn from people like @Dantheman. The key is that no one has an excuse to stay uneducated today. We have the majority of the worlds knowledge at our fingertips and if it is not there we can find someone who does know.
Have you heard this song from @verbal-d yet?

I read an article recently about how Finland is changing their education system. They are removing the divided classes of math, history, economics, etc and moving to a more open class format where all the subjects are taught in applicable and actionable ways that kids can use when they get out of school. I love it because we were all educated 20-30 years ago in a box. No creativity, no thinking outside the box and no education that would truly help us once we stepped out into the real world. Everything that most of us know today we learned from experience or from our jobs. It's a sad state of affairs when our education is not really teaching us anything. Love this article @hilarski
