Photos of me with my toys in the 1980s.

It’s a shame that my parents didn’t take more photos of me with my toys when I was a kid in the 1980s.  I like looking back to see what I used to play with and sharing stories about those toys.  However, I do have some photos like that.

The following photo is of me and my cousin playing with the ColecoVision.  I’m pretty sure it’s around 1987 when this photo was taken.  This is at my grandmother’s house in Shohola, Pennsylvania.  My cousins lived there so this was their ColecoVision.  Even though they had a Nintendo Entertainment System, we would go back & forth playing ColecoVision games, Atari 2600 games via the expansion module and Nintendo games.  Somehow we didn’t find ourselves always playing video games; we actually made our way outside to play in the grass too.

Besides video games, I liked robots back in the 1980s as well.  Back then; these toys were nothing more than fancy radio controlled devices.  Still, it made me feel as though I had a loyal friend.  I mean look at the way I am proudly holding my Verbot (from Tomy™).  I took that robot everywhere.

Eventually I would get a Robie Jr. robot from Radio Shack.  That too would go everywhere with me.  I remember doing a show & tell in the 4th grade (maybe 5th) with Robie.  I recall the kids getting a kick out of Robie saying “Hello” and “Oops, excuse me!” when he would bump into things as he moved around the classroom.

So tell me, maybe show me if possible, do you have photos of yourself from the 1970s or 1980s playing with your toys?
