Good News: Workstation RAM is OK... Bad News: RIP RYZEN 7 1800x CPU

Well f*ck, finally got around to trying to determine the cause of failure of my Ryzen workstation built a few months back and it seems that as I'd feard the CPU has for lack of a bettter term shit the bed. While the death of my ~$600 processor is a still a bit of a piss off and shock one huge luck move granted both sets of 8Gb x 2 (32Gb) G.Skill 3200Mkz have been left unscathed. Looks like I'll be getting myself a new CPU for christmas, fml.

Going to call around the local computer shops and see if anything is around for AM4 Motherboards and CPUs... Lord knows shipping things this time of year takes 4x as long and even then your packages arrive banged up and abused, not good for computer parts!

Backup ALL The THINGS!

Although my CPU appears dead and that will certainly cost me a small fortune to replace it certainly helped put into perspective how damn reliant I am on high powered computers for my day to day work. While my little backup laptop is cool in a pinch to get a few things here or there done it's brutally apparent that my file backup regime as well as centralization of work related files onto 1 computer is a terrible idea. Playing with the idea of turning my Raspberry Pi into a networked hard drive and then having automated backup of all things needed to keep progress flowing.

Going to do a bit of running around town here no and be back to do my witness update later.

Have a wonderful day everyone!

A dead CPU is always a sad event.
If it failed on its own, it should still be under warranty. Unless it burned out because of an OC, then you're out of luck. It depends on how amicable the computer retailer from where you got it is.

Going to look into RMA... Not sure if under warranty but we'll see..

Its so messed up how a cpu could just die. Unless there was a ridiculous amount of voltage put onto it. I mean overclock alone can't really hurt much unless cranking up voltage. I have a messed up socket I'm not too happy about on an intel platform. Highly suggest trying to RMA it even if it takes a while can pay off in the future.

Yeeaaaassss @klye

I can understand that pain. Nothing seems to last these days. Had cpu die once as well. Was stuck on a tablet for 4 weeks. Not sure how that expensive door stopper survived me lol.

Find some spiked eggnog and have a fucking great Christmas man!

You can go for these i5 coffee lake processors!
They are pretty good and value for money.
Works really well Video editing and Gaming.
It's Value for Money

Intel is overpriced and in bed with the NSA.. No beans.

Steam It hukyong 74.
Merry Christmas.
Thank you, friend for following me.

Thank you very much for this eye opening post! I appreciate it immensely! Great post! I'm upvoting and following! I'm wishing everyone the very best of health and happiness! :)

"People are divided into those who make backups and those who will be..." ;-) Good luck @klye.

I had a system backup but not a projects folder backup.. Live and learn!

Dude why aren’t the posts for steem global being verified?

I'm behind on things. Stretched a bit thin between fixing things, developing and christmas.. Sorry bud.

Sad to hear that! Do you use some advanced cooling solution? Water cooling isn't to expensive nowadays and can save a lot of heartache! I myself keep my sensitive data in a folder that auto backups to Dropbox so in case of disaster I'm all covered 🙂

Always water cooling... These new processors demand it.

nice info..

Hey kyle when I try withdrawing is just has a loading screen for me. If you could somehow process my steemit in global to my account that would be amazing thanks. I waiting 2 hours for the withdrawel to post. Kept getting just the circle loading screen when I conform the withdrawel.

woow i like it thank you, this is monster machine@rastalikelove

RYZEN 7 1800x CPU, 32GB 3200mhz G.Skill Flare X RAM are the strong points of the build... Need a better Mobo it looks like on top of replacing CPU
