Technology has changed our life. It facilitated the tasks that used to take a lot of time and efforts to be accomplished. Noticeably, the emergence of internet has made the process of conducting researches, experiments or even gathering data to write a particular dissertation or a thesis, easy to be done .However, the integration of internet within the educational settings and systems can be perceived as a double-edged sword.
On the one hand, educational apps, websites, online courses and a lot of other electronic technologies made the access to data and information quite possible. So, doing home works is no longer a tiresome job .Moreover, reading books that were expensive to be afforded, are to be read online and for free. Teachers can also make use of internet when explaining their courses .This to be done by showing videos, pictures and preparing or downloading some slides which would summarize the content of a particular lesson. Fortunately, Students and with one click can be introduced to the whole world with its diverse cultures, customs, traditions and ways of learning.
On the other hand, the access to internet caused students’ laziness to increase. They are hugely inclined to be spoon-fed rather than putting efforts into their studies. That’s why, Academic crimes such as plagiarism and cheating on exams became a recurrent feature of our educational systems .it is true that e-Learning and receiving online courses help students to better their understanding, but they are also seen as the primary reason behind absenteeism which is perceived a real threat to students’ academic achievement. In a similar vein, students may misuse internet to have access to unethical websites or cyber -bully each other within and outside the educational sphere. This leads one to think that limiting students’ access to internet can be really helpful in some cases
To sum up, technology has advanced drastically in schools. Students of all grades are able to access internet in class. In his way, unlimited internet will allow learners to become unfocused with their studies.
