Hard Drives - Cloning Stratagem
By now those of you who follow me on steemit know I am somewhat of a certified desktop technician, mostly from CompTia. What I want to show you today is a nifty tool all those who travel around the world need to get as a safe guard to lost data.
This Tool is basically for 2.5 inch laptop hard drives which plugs either into your USB 2.0 or 3.0 slot, and you can clone your drive live with the program EZ gig in which it comes with.
Simply put the disc into your CD Drive, run the program, plug in the device and it makes any 2.5 inch drive read like an external drive. From there run the EZ gig software.
Basically follow the instructions, choosing your source drive ( your primary drive your OS runs from), then selecting the destination drive ( You other 2.5 inch drive with equal or greater space), click on Start, then just wait for it to finish cloning.
I've been cloning hard drives for a long time, and this is by far the simplest product you can buy to simply clone a drive.
The limitations is that its only good for 2.5 inch SATA drives. It will not do 3.5 inch drives.
The best real world example is when you go out for an excursion, and you want to bring your laptop with you. You'll run into a few issues such as dropping your laptop bag and corrupting the hard drive. In doing so, you can't run your OS anymore and now you have to get a new drive, reinstall the drivers, and cry that all your data is lost.
If you use this product and clone your drive into another drive. If the same scenario happens, luckily you have a cloned drive on hand, pop the clone drive into your laptop, and boot up. Easy as that! The great thing is whatever data you had before is now up and running. Of course if you already added data in without cloning your drive before hand, you are only updated to the latest data from the last time you cloned.
The process really doesn't take that long depending on Hard Drive RPM or read\write speed. Size does matter, the bigger the drive the longer it takes. However rest assured with a cloned drive at your disposal no need to spend hours installing Operating Systems, Installing Drivers, Updates, and turning it off and on. It will work the minute you pop it into your laptop.
Hope this helps, let me know if you guys want to see the GUI and see how simple it is to clone.
Hope you guys enjoyed this article.
