Facebook: Plane aircraft to connect the Internet to rural areas

Facebook said it had completed a second test to launch a plane to deliver the Internet one day to remote areas on the planet, and that the plane - contrary to the first experience - did not crash.

Facebook plans to develop a fleet of sun-powered aircraft to fly for months, communicate with each other via laser beams, and connect the Internet to the ground below.

The company announced the success of its first experiment in June 2016 after flying the plane over the Arizona desert for an hour and 36 minutes, three times longer than the scheduled time.

She said later that the plane crashed just moments before landing, and damage to one wing.

"The second test took place on May 22 and the plane flew for an hour and 46 minutes before it landed near the city of Yuma in Arizona," said the director of Facebook platforms, Martin Louise Gomez.
