BFR travels between metropolises in 10 years. Tickets for several thousand dollars

in technology •  7 years ago

Gwynne Shotwell, president and COO of SpaceX, said at TED 2018 that the first tests of the most powerful rocket in the history of the space industry, the Big Falcon Rocket (BFR), which her company is working on, will be carried out in 2019. The virgin flight of rockets into space can take place a year later.

Most importantly, the BFR rocket in the terrestrial transport version in 2028 will offer super-fast journeys between the largest metropolises in the world in just 30 minutes. Boarding and flight will cost several thousand dollars.

Traveling by Concorde was also not cheap, but there were plenty of volunteers. If SpaceX manages to provide such instant, safe and comfortable travel on the most-important routes, several thousand dollars for a ticket will not be a hindrance and will definitely attract a lot of customers, especially those with a rich wallet.

SpaceX has recently announced that the BFR rocket will be built in the port of Los Angeles. The company was granted permission to lease land with an area of 18 acres (less than 73 thousand m2), including a facility with an area of 18.5 thousand m2.

BFR and BFS will not only offer travel between metropolises, but above all help humanity to create the first colonies on the Moon and Mars that will provide our civilization with security in the event of a global cataclysm.
