Elon Musk proves that this will be Big F *** ing Rocket

in technology •  7 years ago

Elon Musk, just after the successful virgin flight of the Falcon Heavy rocket, revealed that SpaceX is working intensively on the largest ever rocket, the Big Falcon Rocket (BFR).

It is thanks to her and the spacecraft that the first people will put their feet on an alien planet. She will also allow us to create the first colony on Mars and secure our civilization for possible annihilation.
Musk on his profile on Twitter showed just two photos of one of the elements of the BFR rocket. Admittedly, to call her Big F *** ing Rocket now takes on a whole new meaning.

The spacecraft is to traverse space at speeds up to 100,000 km / h and in suborbital flights at 27,000 km / h. To make this possible, the BFR rocket should have 31 Raptor engines (each 3 times stronger than Merlin 1D) capable of producing a series of 5400 tons. Meanwhile, the spacecraft is supposed to have 7 Raptor engines.

The spacecraft is to be 48 meters long and 9 meters in diameter. It can hold 1,100 tons of fuel and be able to carry 150 tons (LEO). Let us remind you that Saturn V had the ability to carry 135 tons.

Elon announced that the first tests of the rocket are to take place next year. The first orbital mission may take place already in 2020, while Mars in 2022, and manned 2 years later.

Although this is a time that is not so close, it will really be just an introduction to the long and arduous process of transforming this planet into a more human-friendly place. The most important thing is that something is going on in this matter.
