A large extension of the LHC began in the CERN near Geneva. The most advanced machine in the history of the world will have even more power.
The purpose of the next modification is the need for physicists to carry even more particle collisions at even higher energies. To make this possible, engineers will install 130 new, more powerful magnets in a 27-kilometer ring in four shock-collision particles. LHC will also be equipped with new power and cooling systems.
At the moment, an extremely complicated device, such as the Large Hadron Collider, can carry out about one billion collisions of protons. The modification of meaning will increase its possibilities. Scientists expect that by 2026, it will be possible to increase LHC performance up to 10 times.
Thanks to the improved LHC, which will change its name to the High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider, it will be possible to carry out much more important experiments and make groundbreaking discoveries. At the moment, the machine can produce 1.2 million Higgs bosons, and soon it will be 15 million. A larger number of so-called divine particles will allow us to understand the essence of the functioning of the universe.
