 The work of the radio telescope "Radioastron" by the decision of "Roskosmos" was prolonged until the end of 2019. This was announced by the head of the scientific program of the project "Radio Astron" Yuri Kovalev. Previously, the deadline for the work was called the end of 2018.  Released July 18, 2011 into orbit, the radio telescope became the world's largest space telescope, hitting the Guinness Book of Records. The main scientific goal of the mission was the study of astronomical objects of various types, from neutron stars to the vicinity of supermassive black holes.  During its operation, observations were made of several dozen galaxies, as well as pulsars and maser lines in the regions of formation of stars and planetary systems. In addition, the project made it possible to measure the width of the origin of the relativistic jet and the brightness of relativistic jets of quasars.
