I recently read an article published in scroll.in about the female newsreaders in Doordarshan. The article has a photo of Gitanjali Aiyar, Minu Talwar, Neethi Ravindran and Salma Sultan, who were newsreaders from 1970 before the era of cable television, the photo was taken in a marriage ceremony in the year 2003 and it went viral after 14 years when it was published on Facebook. The photo aroused my memories when I used to watch the Doordarshan channel and one of these newsreaders would be there reading the news.
