Todays Thought/Reflection

This is a shot I took while down on the pier at South Street Seaport looking back over the FDR Highway and noticed the reflection of the crane and a few clouds on the windows of the building and had to snap a shot.
I also like the mix of a completed building and a growing building side by side, this is of course not uncommon in NYC there is always construction going on all over the city.

Maybe we need to be like the city always growing and building and striving to go higher, and I don't specifically mean higher up in your career or job, it may be higher in other ways, one of my goals is to be constantly learning and trying to improve my photography.

I did have career goals and achieved a few of them but with two a bit years to go till I retire I am now focusing more on activities that will keep my body and mind busy when I retire and photography is one area that I see myself doing a lot of when I retire.
I have for many years tried to set myself goals to grow myself in various ways some were work related some were personal related but the similarity for my goals were they were all ones that were challenging to achieve but ones that I knew if I put in the effort to achieve, if you set goals that you will be unable to achieve the motivation to do future goals will be diluted.

OK and that is day 9 of this challenge complete, tomorrow will be my final post in this challenge, setting myself the extra challenge of putting some of my thoughts with each reflection photo was a little goal that I set myself, and although some days I have struggled for ideas of what t add with the post, I have managed to put something together each day so just one more to go and I will happily tick off this goal and wonder why I set it for myself.

Unless stated otherwise all photos used in my posts are taken and owned by myself, if you wish to use any of my images please contact me.

It is a beautiful photo, @tattoodjay! It is good that you have a plan to keep yourself busy after retirement. So many retire with no specific goals or amibitions and that is when their health slides down that slippery slope.

I have had many colleagues who retired with no plans and goals and they struggled so much so I learnt from them

Looks like something from 2001 Odyssey...

That’s a cool take on it

Different kind of "crane" than I usually take photos of.
That is a neat perspective, photo-wise and blog-wise.

Its important to keep those goals high enough to keep you thinking, but not so much as to be impossible to achieve. Agreed.

Thanks!

I like the bird crane as a subject but I do not have a lot of luck with birds lol

Cheers

Beautiful click as always buddy. Just amazing. Love your super pics. Regards Nainaz.

Nice! I think that's a really cool reflection. I always like to see pics of buildings in NYC. My kids are reading a Geronimo Stilton book set in NYC right now (Christmas one that I didn't finish before Christmas). Pretty interesting to read a few little facts about it. Photography in your retirement would be good fun! I bet you can see some pretty amazing things around there. :)

ohh yes NYC is amazing walk around and you will always find something new

What a beautiful shot and that is a pretty awesome reflection.

Thanks I do love refections

good reflection brother.

Thanks kindly

Now that's, a big reflection! I couldn't agree more, we should always strive to grow in some way. Complacency is a huge problem these days, in my opinion. People are ready to check out on the human experience and have no idea what they are doing. "An object in motion tends to stay in motion." An object that's sitting still, tends to stay right there! I think a lot of people are okay with that though...

I agree with you 100% and some people relate that only to the body muscles and exercise which is important but I think exercising ones mind is even more important

That photo says it all. Beautiful as always @tattoodjay. As soon as I bought a new camera I will participate in this challenge.

thanks 🙏
Looks k forward to seeing your shots
