I have been wanting to post 10 times in a 24 hour period for awhile now as an experiment. Some people would say it is overboard but here is what I learned. For starters I have been on the platform for 10 months and have done my time in the trenches here. Liked or disliked people kind of know who I am even if they are like, "It's that guy that video blogs from his pool."
I have nearly 800 followers at this point which is way more than I had last fall but I actually don't get as many automatic bot votes as I used to. This is in some ways disappointing considering that in some ways I banked on creating relationships early and figured that as we all become more powerful we will all have each others back. I have noticed that a lot of people who acquired a lot of power and were able to stick to their STEEM investment are suddenly a lot more selective with their votes now that it counts for more. I think part of this has happened because the Steem Voter rules changed to where you don't get as many votes unless you pay and most people don't have enough power to get the monthly fee back in curation rewards if they were to buy it. So that is my guess as to why a lot of those auto votes dropped off. There are still some people looking out for me which is good though.
Here Were The results!
My first post was my biggest payout and was a Black and White photo challenge. I knew to get 10 done I would have to do several posts as challenges. I then paid @randowhale to upvote all my posts and he was at around 33% power when I was utilizing him. I essentially spent $27 and ended up with a new positive increase of $15 if all pricing would stay the same when I would receive my payouts.
After all that I generated $160 in a day.
Should You Try It?
It really depends on what your strategy is and how long you have been on the platform and how much Steem Power you have. If I had over 100,000 Steem Power this strategy would actually make a lot more sense because I could make it to where I knew I was already going to make $15 / post. Right now I sort of know I'm going to automatically make at around $5 based on the autovotes.
One thing I will say is that unless your post already is worth $10 or more it probably doesn't make sense to use @randowhale I don't believe it votes over 50% votes and too many people know about it so the remaining voting power keeps going lower and lower.
Conclusion
What I did wasn't sustainable. It is easy to spend a lot of times on Steemit trying to do a couple posts. Let alone 10 original posts 3 of which were Pool Meetings which required taking video, rending and uploading to YouTube.
There is going to be no easy route to a lot of Steem Power or a large following. Determine your strategy and if you have to adjust it if the payouts get lower than act accordingly. There are probably 80 ways to make money on Steemit! It isn't just posting! For me if I could make $200 / day posting 4 times / day I would feel that is pretty solid and could primarily focus on it. With my expenses I can only go in short spurts and still focus on other income streams.

Thank you for reading my post and please consider following me @brianphobos
But, you put in your dues. I am new to the tune of 10 days, but I plan on buying more steam in the future and hope that helps. Good Luck to you!

yeah overtime we will see how it plays out. Once Hard Fork 19 hits then we will see how much our votes are worth in general. That could change a lot of things for newer content creators.

It's a long road to bank up the content like this overtime. I could go indefinitely posting everyday pretty hard if I could clear $200 / day.

I spend a lot of time on each post and choose just the right pics etc. but I get the distinct feeling that people are just up-voting based on the title, the pic and the first line...As for people reading your stuff over 6 or7 days and upvoting, forgeddabout it! It ain't gonna happen

In general you are right. There have been certain situations where people have went back through my stuff and upvoted some things and I got a jump in pay but really when it boils down to it this website is a totally different animal. A lot of the voting is bot related and certain people are getting upvoted just by the presentation of effort. People see that and keep going further and further with it until we have these 35 page Ph.d. level posts. There is no way anyone is going to read all of it. People just look at it and say....dang.... that was a lot of effort. Upvote Oftentimes a lot of my videos don't even get watched. People glance at a few things and just upvote it. So by that standard it becomes a waste of time in some respects but if you don't do it then it won't look like you put effort into it and ultimately you make more putting the post together then you would make if it was just up on YouTube or someplace else outside of if you spent two or 3 years building a large following on one of those platforms. Steemit is a weird place but very interesting.

you're right, Brian - as a writer I needed to build a platform. I have 54, 000 Twitter followers but it's done little for me other than establish my brand and direct people to my website. This steemit experience at least helps me pay for a lot of my writing expenses, and I'm thankful, but exasperated when I'm slow to catch on sometimes LOL!!
