A Tesla Model S caught fire suddenly while it was parked in an underground garage in Shanghai. The images, which immediately became viral on Asian and other social media, caused a stir both in users, in other Tesla owners but also in Elon Musk, who decided to send investigators to understand what actually happened to the car to ignite as in the video. The question must be clarified above all because the car was parked and not even in charge.

Tesla: the car catches on its own
The video , from a surveillance camera of an underground car park in Shanghai, was published on Sunday evening directly on China's most popular social network, namely Weibo. Here a hashtag was immediately created that has not gone unnoticed all over the world: #AutocombustionTesla . Indeed what is possible to observe from the few seconds of the surveillance video of the garage is nothing more than a real "self-ignition" of the Tesla Model S parked and not being charged, at least according to the pictures.

After a few seconds from the beginning of the video, which has already exceeded 22 million views in just a few hours, the white Tesla Model S begins to emit white smoke from the lower parts of the body and immediately afterwards it is possible to observe a real explosion overwhelming the entire vehicle with the flames that surrounded the Tesla.

US spokesman Tesla , on behalf of the billionaire CEO Elon Musk, has made it clear to the media and the authorities that his company is "actively contacting the relevant services and we offer our collaboration to understand what happened. According to the information collected so far, no deaths or injuries ".

All this clearly does nothing but reawaken the attention on the safety of electric cars and the future that these will have in the next few years on roads all over the world. The initial smoke coming from the underside of the Model S could suggest a short circuit that caused the fire. For Tesla another headache especially on the eve of an important meeting with the shareholders who will have to reiterate their consent to Tesla and its future.
