Getting around the island is extremely easy, there are songthaews driving along the main road every few minutes, simply wave one down and jump in. You can also rent a motorbike but be aware that the roads have a lot of hills and can be quite windy through some areas. We would not suggest driving a motorbike up into the mountains if you are not an extremely experienced driver.
