HOW THESE 23 LITTLE PESTS JUST ROBBED ME OF AN HOUR OF MY LIFE

in thatwas-horrible •  7 years ago

These "toys" are pretty much plastic cockle-burrs!

Like many toys, these too come with instructions on "proper use," but for little children that can be optional. While I will not be naming names here since this is going on the blockchain and I don't want to give any of the @little-peppers any ammunition to use against their siblings forty years from now, I'll still be sharing the story.

SUDDENLY, OUT OF NOWHERE, THIS!

Not all that long ago, Red-Pepper walked upstairs with some sort of crazy, messy "updo" and a sad look on her face. It appears that her hairstyle was caused by one of the other @little-peppers allowing some heinous "toys" to come in contact with the top of her hair...

Upon closer examination, this was not going to be fun. I've seen things like this before, mostly in the form of cockle-burrs getting caught in someones hair, which could pretty much be marketed as a "DIY dreadlocks kit." While the natural burrs produced by the burdock plant are more biodegradable and somewhat easier to remove, these "toys" are industrial strength plastic...

Created to be disastrous little round balls of velcro, this is the type of toy that can really mess things up if they find their way into the wrong place, which, of course, is exactly what they did. While simply giving Red-Pepper a flat-top hair cut would have been easier, it's not exactly the look that we are going for on the head of our little girl, so, reluctantly, I dove in and got to work.

When dealing with a mess like this, there is not easy way. For gum, you can use peanut butter, but as far as I know, there is not life-hack for this. It just requires patience and hard work. Though it can be frustrating, enough hair is probably already going to be ripped out, so the frustration must not be allowed to be manifested.

The longer I worked, the more work seemed to be awaiting me. It was hard not to lose hope, but Red-Pepper is worth it. If the culprit would have been deemed capable, it would have been their job, but alas, the responsibility tonight fell on my shoulders.... as if I didn't have enough to do anyway...

Finally, the end was in sight. My hard work was paying off and Red-Pepper was not going to be bald. While it remained an unfortunate situation to be in and a labor intensive, time consuming task, my efforts we about to pay off. There were 23 of those wicked little velcro balls in there! Never again!

LATHER, RINSE, REPEAT

This is the before photo of Red-Pepper, and obviously she was not happy. However, even after all of my hard labor and the removal of 23 horrible "toys" we still had results that looked like this.

I'm going to recommend a separate conditioner on this, and maybe even the old "lather, rinse repeat." Normally, we wouldn't bother with the "repeat" but desperate times call for desperate measure. In the end, it's just another day in the life of the parent, and I'm sure that some of you can relate.

As always, I'm @papa-pepper and here's the proof:

LOL This is priceless and the cutest little girl I've ever seen! Fun times man!

Yeah, a whole lot of "fun."

😂

@bluelightbandit You got it right. That girl seemed born for steemit, for this cool post.

Papa-pepper........ uneasy work you faced there.... I hope i have that kind of patience for my peppers when i have them!

I hope that you do too!

My son loves Thomas trains that run off batteries. One day driving he kept saying "ouch its tight". He had been driving the train on his head so his hair kept spinning in the wheel. It wasn't pretty. He was in his car seat so I didn't know the damage till we were able to stop.

😱😱😱 at that first photo of her rats'-nest hair!! OMG OMG I started freaking out for you, lol. It's amazing you were able to get them out at all!

I know, I really thought that she might end up with a flat top haircut!

cool.
they are very happy with all this
Because of their happiness also to our parents part too.
thanks my friend @papa-pepper, have shared.

You taken very good decision for removing these horrible toys. But your kids are very sad. Hahahaha

LOL!

Man how did u just get them out from that mess ????I thought it would never be out from those hairs.but it made you to spend some more time with your cutipie.😇

beautiful, sweet and cute kids

Thank you!

Nice post, i like it, may be useful thank you

Bahahahah, that’s hilarious! My dad has similar magical power when our necklaces get tangled. It’s these powers that make daddies hero’s. My daddy also slays man eating alligator commonly confused for lizards. It’s a tough job to be my knight, but he has done well. :)

Yeah, a father has to do what a father has to do.

Good post my [email protected] like'your post

Oh no! I’m sure that didn’t feel good pulling out either!

It didn't feel too good on my precious little fingers at all!

Burn those little things!! Glad you got them out though.

Good idea! Best advice yet!

Had a similar experience with silly putty.....They need to put warning labels on those packages of kids toys.

Yeah, and then we need to read them!

You were supposed to take you laser scalpel and cut off all the little plastic industrial strength barbs one at a time.

Yeah, that's the way to do it.

C'mon! I'll never get the one hour back that it took me!

incredible prof. simple stuff can be an idea. I learned a lot with post prof. Thank

lmao!!!!!!!!

Yeah, it gets like that some days.

oh man that reminded me of the time my chow and TJ were running in the field back in NY behind the barn and right into a big patch of Burrs! oil and like 2 days later both her and the dog were finally burr free and still in a mood...

That'll happen too!

thanks for the memories! I will look I think I might have a pic. That really made me laugh cuz I know the two of you were like ARGHHHHHHH! Someone had double chores, lol.

I just realized who you were! Good to see you here!

lol ive been watching for a while finally took the leap. I really do not do FB ever but I love gardening so I said what the heck do it... so I did... You are really awesome on here! love it, getting lots of homestead friends and tips and tricks!!!

Yeah, it's a good and rewarding community for sure!

:D its really great experience,,, for papa and your daughter,,,
Good papa always have a win solution,,, papa really good parent,,, its same like my friend @grolelo who attend her daughter playing tennis,,, all of you is best parents in this world,,, thanks for sharing this,,, im so proud of you,,, and im apreciated,,, have a nice day and always be best parent for your child,,,

Nice post sir

Thank goodness they are a new product. With 3 daughters, all with long hair, normal knots were bad enough, those would have been a ****.
A long tail comb and an Icepick were handy tools in the old days, there are probably better things now.

Morning sir.
Well though I'm not a parent but I can relate.
I thought primary 3 pupils during the holidays and there is nothing they cannot use to take your time. But those kids are angels and in the end it becomes a memory, so has this one.

@red-pepper sorry about your new rock and roll hair do, I trust papa-pepper that you will be back to yourself in no time.
Good job sir

Lol. Thats hilarious and also painstakingly time consuming to remove the toys. Memories that will be cherished for sure.

Very informative post. Thanks, for sharing your knowledge.

All I can say now is that the little girl is too pretty 😉
I kept admiring her beauty and it leaves me with no doubt that she took after her dad.
You did your job as a guardian angel to her by removing the toys, that's a true mark of a great dad who is always there for her.
It's Sunday over here....... Have a great day.
Happy Sunday

Awwwwnnnn she's so adorable. U always having fun with everything @papa-pepper Happiness is key and it makes one live even longer

he's a funny kid and his facial expressions make me annoy

Whaat?? Omg!! So funny hahaha

Yeah, some people's kids....

I was lucky, only had to deal w/ 4 of them little critters.
I admire your patience.
Namaste

19 more certainly did not help! Thanks @jesse2you!

Who was the crazy person that created those things. I have to pick the real ones out of my dogs hair all the time....pain.in.the.ass. I can only imagine what would happen if my kid got a hold of them. I feel your pain man.

Yeah, the real ones break apart too, but these little pests......

Devil spawn of a product ;)

@papa-pepper I do not speak. I just want to enjoy some interesting photos from you. this is Amazing... photos with a funny story ....
will this hair binder hurt his scalp this pretty little girl? ha ha ha

You poor thing. I think I would have dumped a jar of coconut oil on it and let that soak in for half an hour before even attempting it. You have the patience of Job.

Not quite as much as him, but still some patience for sure.

Looks like red pepper needs hair rebond.Ooohhhhh cute little red pepper. Dont be sad, just dont try to play with those things again. Listen to your papa :D

That is right, she should listen to Papa!

Hahaha...kids!! You will miss these stuffs one day. Now get some rest @papa-pepper.

I bet I will. At least this will help me remember!

@papa-pepper

Had a nice laugh now and looks like your patience was tested a bit :)

I assume you wanted to rather become a hairstylist and just cut a way ,then taking your time to take out 23 little toys gently . She is gorgeous and at least not camera shy .

It just a cured to me everything is stored on the block chain ooooooops ...

LOL - Yeah, the memories....

Rofl her expression in the end! 10/10
Btw you could have used oil to simply 'slip' those lil' velcro demons out, without losing any of her hair! :(

We had thought of that... maybe next time, but hopefully there will be NO NEXT TIME!

Ahahaha I hope the same too!

Good you were able to get them out, and I didn't know that you can use peanut butter to remove gum from the hair.

I will only drop my little vote on this post. Those kids looks much pretty, and beautiful

I had 4 boys... All I would have expected of them if they had seen this is a school time prank. Boys can be heartless. I have known a few teenage girls who might learn from this.

O.M.G.

yes, I'm laughing too and thankful I never had to do that......and had a boy so could have just shaved his head :D

You are the greatest Father right now in my mind :D but just know I forget easy so don't let it go to your head :D

Your poor daughter........

Ohhh my... brave red @little-peppers, good thing her hair 's just fine.... cute expression of red... love it😘😘😊

Peanut butter against gum?! Never heard of that. Noted! 😊 Not sure I'll ever need it, though. Maybe I'll end up advising parents. 😃

Wow! That is some work Papa. Well done. I know how tiring that must be for you and for her. Well done again.
She is adorably cute! Papa and Mama's gene!

really funny his expression sir
But she still looks pretty
It's really proud to have such a beautiful child

I didn’t know you could use peanut butter to remove gum from your hair if stuck. I feel sorry for Red-Pepper, but she looks funny and cute though.

Try it if you ever need to. It really works.

Oh Red-Pepper.... So many things to say! "Looks like you're having a bad hair day!". "What goes in must come out". We love you!!!

Oh, my! I can sympathize with your predicament. Just how many of these "toys" come in the original package? Because if there were more than 23, where are the others? I must say you did a good job of getting them out of poor Red-Pepper's hair without resorting to scissors! Not a fun way to spend a night...

The poor little Red-Pepper that still had to hurt. I am so glad we don't allow toys being brought into school I can just imagine trying to getthem out of the childrens hair.

Oooo........ where can I get some of those?

I'm sure I could get up to a whole lot of mischief with them.

Not a word to @skymaiden though huh? It will be just our little secret.

And here I thought Legos were the worst toy ever invented lol
