人間の脳は、「一度見たものを再度見るとき、その2%しか認識していない」とよくいわれます。残りの98%は、記憶したもののストックで補う。そのため脳は横着だといわれることもありますが、かつて、人類がいつも飢えていたような状況下では、脳で使うエネルギーをできるだけ節約することは、大きな意味があったのでしょう。

It is often said that the human brain recognizes only 2% of what it sees once it sees it again. The remaining 98% is supplemented with a stock of memorized items. Therefore, the brain is sometimes said to be horizontal. But in the past, when humanity was always hungry, saving energy in the brain would have made a lot of sense.

わたしにはその意味がよくわかります。わたしは2%どころか、99.9%は記憶(それもいい加減な)で補いながら生活していると自覚しています。

I understand the meaning well. I see only 0.01% of the world, not 2%, and I realize that 99.9% live while supplementing with memory (which is also sloppy) and delusions.

日記とはもちろん、その日にあったことを記すことです。
日本においては、小学生の子供が、夏休みに「日記」と「自由研究」(自由課題の研究。例えば、アサガオの生育日記、科学的な工作など)が宿題の定番です。
わたしはずるがしこい子供だったので、日記は夏休みの初日に、「自由研究」は前半に、ほぼ終わらせました。わたしの日記は、妄想の産物でした。

A diary is, of course, a record of what happened on that day.
In Japan, "diary" and "independent research" (research on free tasks, such as Morning glory's growth diary, scientific work, etc.) are the standard summer vacation homework for elementary school children.
I almost finished my diary on the first day of summer vacation and "independent study" in the first half. My diary was a product of creation and delusion.

日本の風物詩として、「夏休みの最終日に、家族総出で子供の宿題を仕上げる」がありますが、わたしは無縁でした。面倒なことを手早く済ませてしまうことの爽快感! 宿題の重圧から解放された夏休みの素晴らしさよ!・・・いやな子供です。

A Japanese tradition is "on the last day of summer vacation, parents work together to complete their child's homework." It's a beautiful sight, but I had nothing to do with it.
The exhilaration of getting things done quickly! If you eat what you dislike first, the rest of the food will be more delicious.
The wonderfulness of summer vacation, freed from the pressure of homework! ... Yes, I was a nasty child!

すべてそのような感じで、人生を舐めたまま、大人になりました。

Everything was like that, and I became an adult.

今回、素晴らしい出逢いによってThe Diary Game に参加することになり、すべてとは言いませんが、その多くで「本物の」日記を書きました。
それは、注意を凝らして日常を生きることを意味しました。すべて効率よく、最短距離のことを選択しがちだったわたしにとって新鮮な経験でした。日常というものは、同じように見えて、なんと違っていることか。

This time, I decided to participate in #TheDiaryGame because of a wonderful encounter. For many, if not all, I wrote a "real" diary.
It meant living with care and everyday life. It was a fresh experience for me, who tended to choose the shortest distance, all efficiently. What makes everyday life look the same and different?

■■

またこれらの日記は、すべて日本語と英語の併記で書いたわけですが
日本語は、よく言われるように非常にハイコンテクストな言語であり、3種類の文字と数字、欧文を適切に使って表現します。日常的な文章(The Diary Gameを含む)は別として、通常、文章を書く際は、非常に注意深く日本語を書くよう心掛けています。

Also, all those diaries were written in both Japanese and English.
As is often said, Japanese is a very high-context language, and it is expressed using three types of letters, numbers, and European languages. Apart from everyday writing (including #TheDiaryGame), I usually write Japanese very carefully when writing.

たとえば、一つの文章のなかで同じ表現、同じ単語を近くに置くことを避け、単語を適切に言い換えて流れるように書くのが美しい日本語の文章です。「主語」が何度も出てくるのは文章として洗練されていないとみなされるので、主語は適度に省きます。

For example, it is embarrassing for me to have the same expression and the same word nearby in one sentence. Beautiful Japanese sentences flow smoothly while paraphrasing words appropriately. Since it is considered unsophisticated as a sentence that the "subject" appears many times, the subject should be omitted appropriately. This "moderation" is a feeling that comes from experience, and it determines whether a sentence is good or bad.

英語は第二言語であり、わたしの場合、2つの言語の表現には歴然とした差があります。普段、高度な日本語を使っているという自覚があるからこそ、非常に拙い言語表現しかできないことは耐えがたい(日本人の多くが英語でのコミュニケーションを取ろうとしないのは、子供レベルの表現しかできない第二言語を使うことを恥じるからでは?)。

English is my second language, so when I compare Japanese and English in terms of ability, there is a clear difference. Because I am aware that I am using advanced Japanese, I can only express very poor languages, which is also unbearable for me.
(I presume that many Japanese do not try to communicate in English because they cannot tolerate using a second language that can only express at the child level).

そんな、恥の文化に住んでいる日本人の一人として、英語と併記で文章を記すというのはなかなか勇気のいることです。

As one of the Japanese people who overly hates such "embarrassing" things, it is quite courageous to write sentences in English.

しかしそれも、気にしているのは自分だけで、本当はそれほど重要ではないのかもしれません。このThe Diary Gameにおいて、英語表現でひどいミスをしたことにあとで気づき、暗澹としながら編集モードで訂正することが数多くありました(今もきっと多くのミスが)。
しかし本当に重要なのは、正しい文章や、文章の美しさの前に「伝えたい」という意思のほうなのだと。
それはよく言われることですが、自分で経験してみるまで、理解できていませんでした。

But even then, I'm the only one who cares, and maybe it's not really that important.
In this #TheDiaryGame, I made a ridiculous mistake in English expression, and I was often ashamed to look back and make corrections in edit mode in the dark. There will still be many mistakes.
But what really matters is the willingness to "tell" the correct text and the beauty of the text.

It's often said that I didn't understand it until I experienced it myself.

最後に、この素晴らしいゲームの企画者の皆様に御礼を。毎日日記を書いてみるという経験から、多くの気づきを得ることができました。

チームメイトの@cryptokannon@yadamaniart@elitogoldに感謝を。皆さんの日記は、たくさんの発見を与えてくれました。

Finally, thank you to all the organizers of this amazing game. As I've written, I've gained a lot of awareness from the experience of writing a diary every day.
Thanks to my teammates @cryptokannon, @yadamaniart and @elitogold. Your diary has given me a lot of discoveries.

And SPECIAL THANKS to @cryptokannon for inviting me to #TheDiaryGame.

When you invited me to this game, I didn't understand the steemit rules and ran out of SP, so I was waiting for one day to reply to you... You delegated 100SP to me quickly, without any reward.

Currently, my Effective Power is 602.52 SP (501.90 + 100.62). You wrote that I don't have to worry about delegation. But I suggested and we decided, that if my SP exceeds 500, you stop delegating to me and promise to use that 100 SP for other beginners. I was able to achieve that.

Yes, it’s sad that the diary ends already but I enjoyed reading all our teammates participation if not all I guess sorry for not upvoting those missed post of yours. I’ve learned a lot of places from you and thanks for sharing those. It’s good to know someone who can translate Japanese to English in one and you’re good in that. You can be a teacher in this field. Let’s communicate again in other contest after this!

Thanks for your comment! The word order of sentences is completely different between Japanese and English. Therefore, I learned that the literal translation makes it difficult to convey the meaning of the sentence. It's better to go back to what I want to say and rewrite the text from scratch. Writing English composition every day was a good lesson for me.
I'm a minority in the Steemit community. It is very important to know that. Because the world is like that.
And from your diary, I learned to see Japanese society from the perspective of people from other country. Thank you for your valuable points of views.
Of course, let's continue to communicate! I look forward to your post!

absolutely correct! good, simple grammar is the key to a good translation. (and better no 'ornated' speeches, idiomas, etc stuff).

I'm glad you agreed with me. When I'm in Japan, I don't realize I'm a minority in the world. I think I have no choice but to get used to translating into a foreign language. (As a Japanese, it is considered unsophisticated in Japanese to always include the subject in a sentence, so it is necessary to change from that consciousness ...)

does it really ends? i've heard about another 1000 days of steemit... or is it another contest, nothing to do with the diary game?.. (maybe I confused it..)

Oh, thank you for the important point! It means the end of the diary game, so I modified the title!

Hi @abbey701 I'm proud of you and other team members that keep writing their diary until the finish line of Season 2. I stopped in the middle of the game haha! Now, thediarygame become neverending season.. so you all can keep writing your diary as often you can until eternity 😄 also there's 7 themes to write too, so we got to write other things beside thediarygame.
Don't worry about your English is not perfect or sound like children, it's our second language, and can be considered as lingua de Franca to communicate with other nations. Most of native English speakers has moved to hive so it's just us English as a second language speaker that left here in steemit.😅 But, I saw a lot of English native speakers newcomers coming in and also some coming back active too, so we got to know more of English speakers soon here.
There's is a creative writing community here see if you're interested to join their contest or writing for that community, https://steemit.com/trending/hive-111825

Congrats on hitting 500SP hope you will get more! I will undelegated it when I found someone who will make good use of it as you did. Thank you for being part of steemit community and sharing your perspectives about Japan and the places that you have visited with us here. Keep on steeming! 🤗

@cryptokannon Let me thank you a lot.
The diary game season 2 was really fun. Yes, I will continue to write a diary.
I registered with the Writing & Reviews Community. I found the fun of writing in English. Thank you for always showing me the next path.

I understand about undelegate. Basically, you can do it at any time!

I'm watching your success at steemit. I hope your work goes well.
With gratitude ♪
