The Diary Game | 09/09/20 | Day #34 - Dog Days of September

Having a little puppy is hard. But, they can definitely motivate you to get your act together. Today was centered around taking Rocky out and achieving that he pees and poops, on the outside.

Welcome to the Dog Days of September, where I have to get my puppy house trained before I travel again.

Dear Diary - How did September arrive so fast?

Time flies when you are having fun. And, if you aren't having fun, it does still pass by a bit too fast. I woke up feeling a bit depressed this morning for so many reasons, but nothing worth repeating except dealing with puppy clean-up.

I didn't have it in me to take Rocky out early in the morning. So he got my terrace. The plan is to begin making many small victories like rewarding him each time he does his business outside. He knows his name is Rocky, how to sit, and the beginnings of lie down. Of course, it will take a LOT of positive reinforcement.

At the same time I am doing all this dog walking, I am killing two birds with one stone and taking my son out as well. I think the most exhausting quirk (or quark), of 5 year olds, but also their most redeeming trait at times, is curiosity. I don't claim to be much of a kid person - my son gets all my good moments. But, it is mentally exhausting to try to answer "Why," on an intelligent level after the 54th time.

If you are a parent, you understand. The rest of you who think you want children have.absolutely.no.idea. And for the sake of single moms everywhere, try to figure out your relationship problems BEFORE you have children. Because let me tell you once you DO have children, they WILL break you up if things aren't right between you. That kind of stress isn't for quitters.

The rest of the day passed in a blur of work, taking the dog out and trying to keep my son from bothering the dog when it naps, or bothering me while I work. Tomorrow I will finally get to go out again and run around a bit. I totally needed something that would eat up all my free time between work. At least my son and I are getting out and walking.

Newly built houses in my neighborhood. It's cold on this side of the city, but the forest is beautiful!

Tonight I am going to try to lay down a bit earlier so I am ready to get up early and get after it. Will try to post better pictures tomorrow.
