ThreeA & ThreeZero are probably one of the best brand of making large scale robot figure these days!
The Real Steel Atom is an excellent demonstration of ThreeA robot figures. The figure stands about 20″ tall. The entire figure has the ThreeA trademark rustic / battle damage look. Not only the look, ThreeA actually created a rustic texture on the figure, which feels rough when touching the rustic surface.
There are working pistons everywhere throughout the entire figure, it is amazing how ThreeA engineer all the pistons to work together when I moved the joints. But I really need to learn how these pistons work, otherwise will risk breaking the pistons. Although the joints are not the most articulated (mainly because of the design of all these working pistons), but they have tried to make it as articulated as it can indeed. The ratchet joints do helps make the figure more solid.
The figure has lighting installed on the head and the body. (I just ran out of battery at time of photographing ...) To make it movie accurate, ThreeA has also installed a fan on the back. When Atom activated, the lights and fan will turned on, which is a very cool gimmick!
However, all these electronic components make the figure extremely top heavy. The original design of the lower body is already slimmer than the upper body. Also, the feet has a lot of joints in there. All these adds up, that makes this figure almost impossible to stand probably other than just standing straight. If ThreeA can included a display stand for this figure, it would have been perfect!!
