James what a great discussion. We need more discussions like this. I understand what the Sheikh is saying about the religion not being violent. It is the interpretation that leads to violence. Unfortunately, all of the people that carry out the violence say that it is for Islam so of course, we don't know who follows the peaceful teachings or who follows the violent teachings. I remember years back when a Muslim leader called for a Jihad on Salman Rushdie, Muslims that lived next door and in our neighbourhoods that we thought were friendly got on coaches in their thousands to show allegiance to that cause. I don't know that you both solved much but if we don't or aren't allowed to start having these dialogues then there will be no peace and acceptance.
