New Thrift Store Finds - Sold An Item For $53 Profit 1 Hour After Purchase Before Getting Home

If you like thrifting, no one has been to more thrift stores than me in the last 5 years, often hitting 15+ a day when locked in. I've found and sold thousands of items, so my experience can be helpful for any level of reseller. Follow me for examples, strategies, and tips.

Finds from short trips on Fri & Sat, listing costs and confident sale prices/timeframes (incl. free shipping, which will be very minimal)...

Yesterday's Quick Finds:

T3 Hair Iron:

-$1.90 after redeeming my Goodwill loyalty points -> $40 (up to 2 weeks)

Cameo Girls Figure:

-$5.44 -> $35 (up to 3 weeks)

Harry Potter Year 1 First Ed. Book:

-$3.26 to add to the year 1-7 sets I sell for $75 cash.

Today's Quick Finds

Les Mills RPM Fitness Cycling DVD/Music Set:

-$3.26 -> $45 (up to 3 weeks)

-Sneaky profit on a shelf of DVDs that looked hopeless.

-Solid resale overall on Les Mills DVDs.

Nerium Day & Night Face Cream Set:

-$17.98 -> $53 (2-3 days)

-I told the manager these were undervalued the last time I found a few sets there, not expecting to see them again, so he raised the price from $4.99 to $8.99 each today. Oops.

-These inflated my costs for the day, but they sell so fast to justify it. I was able to relist a recent listing for efficiency before I even paid for them.

New COBY Voice Recorder:

-$10... SOLD for $74 within the hour when I thought of listing it at the next store I went to while waiting on line - just 10 minutes after posting it!! I was also able to relist a recent listing since I found the same new item at the same store recently in the same spot. Déjà vu...

-This profit alone covers the costs of everything above, so it's all free money now.

New RCA Voice Recorder:

-$10 -> $55 (will sell within a month)

-Was hidden under stuff that looked like a stash spot.

Advice:

Tip 1 - When you go to a cash only store, look for stashes left by those who didn't have enough cash on them at the time, since they often intend to return to complete their purchases and don't. I found the new RCA voice recorder on top of a shelf buried under some sealed new toys they likely also wanted.

Tip 2 - If you find any sealed new Sony voice recorders, grab them! They are solid $100-$250 sells depending on the model.

Tip 3 - Use rubbing alcohol to remove permanent marker prices.

I say, well if you weren't so fucking lazy you could go find shit to resell. But I don't because they won't, or maybe they go once and give up.

I found you again! I was thinking the other day about your thrifting and dumpster diving adventures! I did a search and you're back! Wahoo! ;) Not that you went anyway, but I just lost you. I wish I had some decent thrift stores around me...only recycled "ropa americana" (American clothes). I can get jeans for $.33 in a variety of sizes and styles, but that's about it. I would take a Les Mils DVD, that's for sure! Wow!!
