Today’s throwback is so special.
So exactly one year ago today, it was my favorite man’s birthday! That means today is his birthday yeah? 🤩

So I went from
looking forward to that new toy,
to dreading your return.
Age was playing tricks on me
and my actions were only symptoms.
You must have wondered why your little boy was turning into something else
Every lie I spat out killed you a little more
but I dreaded how you'd react if I came out straight.
Yes that's my excuse of an excuse.
Damn! I remember that tattoo chewing gum
The questions "what does this symbol mean?" and the "where did you get the money from?" You made me a "cane duster" in school lol.
You alone could make me cry.
You let me make my own decisions as a little boy
Shalom or Mary Hill?
Oritamefa or Sacred Heart?
Science or Art?
Bowen, Babcock or Covenant.?
All that freedom you gifted me
from a very young age
and oh boy did I let you down?!
Too many times
but you kept faith.
There were the issues with the girls
Damn it's been a long time coming.
The love letters you read

All the times I wet my bed 🤦🏽♂️
The episodes about my beard.
And a million more.
When we talk these days, I just smile
