In my country most people don't really give a damn about the DST (Daylight Saving Time) change. But in other countries like America and Canada, this seems quite important. I work for an American company, so DST change has really an impact with my daily life as well. DST change normally starts during Spring time (2nd Sunday of March 2:00 AM EDST) and it ends in fall (November 2:00 AM EST). When DST change begins, people move their clock 1 hour forward from the Standard Time (Local time) and 1 hour back again when DST ends. We may notice that the sun seems to set later during Spring time or Summer time, but this is just an illusion caused by the DST change which makes day time longer and the purpose of this transition is to make use of the daylight better to conserve energy from using artificial lights and also to avoid or lessen the occurrence of accidents, which is quite good.
Now here's how DST change affects my daily routine.
I used to be a morning person and been used to waking up very early and head off to work before the sunrise. But when DST starts that means my body clock changes too since I need to wake up much earlier than normal. So I must sleep early to wake up early in the morning while my neighborhood are still literally sleeping by that moment =). I could only hear some dogs barking and the crowing of the rooster. My shift starts at 4:00 AM (PH Local Time) so that's now 4:00 PM EDST (Eastern Daylight Saving Time) in US . When DST ends, 4:00 PM EDST US/CA Time will change to 5:00 AM (PH Local Time). Talking about time can be awefully boring lol but to cut it short here, I seem to have an extra hour of sleep when DST ends which is quite a luxury time for me and on the other hand when DST starts I could lose an hour of sleep so I need to have an early bed time. Well the advantage of DST change is despite the early mornings to work, we can do a lot during the day and we can go home earlier too! which is great isn't it? One of the setback in DST change is system conflict and delays to most automated transactions may occur especially when it's initiated before the time switch and has a due date time passed the DST change, some people don't understand this and they end up calling for complaints so that gives me the opportunity to show the power of empathy. =)
I hope you learned something in this blog. Thank you again for stopping by ! Seize the day! Enjoy your time! =)
