Five More Minutes

That’s what you say when you want to pull the sheets closer to you as you lay your head on your softest favorite pillow. While a gentle breeze blows your patterned curtains, showing off the sun’s rays that intended to greet you a bright morning.

Five More Minutes

That’s the line you plead your teacher when you want to finish a test but you can’t remember the details so you stare at the answer sheet while beads of cold sweat have formed on your forehead as every part of your body is shaking in full desperation of not wanting to leave a blank space.

Five More Minutes

It’s been a long tiresome day, but the telephone has not been tired in ringing due to huge rush of complaints. A bunch of sticky notes or post-its have already filled your wall. And you have been staring at the computer screen all day long. So you stretch your arms and massage your shoulders, turning your head from left to right as you take a glance at the wall clock that is almost near 5:00 pm and whisper to yourself,

“Five More Minutes.”

This is what I hope for offices when I am processing concerns and important matters as it is almost 5 pm. Some do not accommodate papers within five minutes before 5:00.

I am personally grateful for those people who entertain transactions or matters or concern whether it is five minutes before their lunch break or before their closing time. Thank you.

Five More Minutes

When you have been waiting for so long, wondering if the person you have an appointment with will still show up or will give at least a message or call to update you on where he is. Then, you repeatedly tell yourself this line.

“Five More Minutes.”

Sometimes, you have been working on a simulation or a code, but you are interrupted by several bugs. Probably you have solved them and probably you might have not found yet what causes it. Your back has been aching and so does your head. So, before calling it a day to rest, try again and hope that it will work within this amount of time.

Five More Minutes

Along the long hallways with white painted walls, names and room numbers are placed beside door posts. Adjustable beds are filled with sick people as tubes are connected to their bodies. When someone dear to your heart occupies one of those spaces, you hope to be with them even for five more minutes. Especially precious when they can leave this world any moment from now, this can be your greatest request.

Five More Minutes

This can be extremely long when you do not want it but it comes really short when you desperately need it. It can be an opened opportunity or prolonged agony. Be sure to use your time wisely for you won’t always have

Five More Minutes.
