As a splinterlands player, I would like to be able to share a battle link in a monsters.tokenbb.io topic, so that the battle would play right in the topic.
Awesome idea, I didn't even think that is possible but the data is all public, so it makes sense. Would that require to get some code from Steem Monsters, to animate the cards they way they do? Or would that be something entirely new, interpreted in a different way? I guess the second solution would be way more effort to implement. Is Steem Monsters partly open source?
Some of the most active forums I been on has had what is known as a shout box displayed at the top or bottom of their forum.
It can be used as an easy way to send a mass message to all members / used to mention things that don't need a topic dedicated to it or even used to announce important updates.

So if I understand this correctly this would be a way for the forum owners to send messages to all users? Or more like a global chat? I have seen both being called a shoutbox in forums.
Some form of announcements are a great idea in my opinion. And I am sure a chat would also be possible :D
We should just think what users would like to see, so I am hoping for more ideas.
What do you think of a global shoutbox/chat that is implemented as steem comments? One could even have a small 1% :black_heart: button next to each shout
Announcement global pinning is a great idea, I will note that down.
If a chat box is implemented and on chain then it could eat up allot of RC. Which could he a huge hinderance to new players / players lacking RC. It might be best to have a chat box that isn't connect to STEEM comments. If it must be connected then I would 100% go with a shout box over a chat box.
How hard would it be to make the posts/messages SAVE AS DRAFTS within the browser?
I believe Steemit does this.
I totally spent an hour making a super, amazing, fanatastic Intro post only to navigate away a few minutes to create a gif to put at the end, and come back to NOTHING.
My heart sank.
After only a few minutes of not being on the page, it went to sleep and reloaded when I returned, with nothing. Nothing! 😱
You'll now never know all the amazing things I felt like sharing, as that time has now past.
I understand if this is simply user error and you can't hold my hand all day long. I just got used to that option and now will have to unlearn it at the expense of (again) AMAZING content... but maybe that will make me learn faster.
I will leave you with this.
My favorite color is yellow. 😎
P.S. I do like this forum. Thanks to whoever created it!
Oh dang @carrieallen sorry that this happened to you!
I'll put this feature to the top of our priority list, loosing your post sucks!
In the end I can recommend hackmd.io for more exaborate posts, as there you can share it with your friends for proof reading, that is what I always do for my posts :)
It's no worries. I chalk it up to being my own fault.
I totally use Hackmd for others to share their posts with me, as I'm kinda like an editor and the BOSS at Markdown.😎 And I help run the HELPIE Witness, so Hackmd makes it easy for me to get things to post for others. Same with SM (Splinterlands). When I do the OFFICIAL LORE posts I use the Hackmd. However, I do wish it showed all the images... I never does, but it does transfer to the blockchain perfect. 😎 (And now I'm just babbling...)
I also was already using it (while making the lost post) to grab image links easier as like 30% of the time the interal upload thingy didn't work.
Amusing (to me) that I didn't think about putting the POST into a hack. 😏
I'll probably get around to making another intro post... I mean, I'm pretty famous and clearly you don't know of me... yet. 😎 Gotta fix that shit.
Thanks for putting it on the list though! (I think we all just got used to it when Steemit did it... TBF: SteemPeak doesn't. You have to actually hit SAVE. So I can be retrained.)😍
That upvote DOES cheer me up. I'm a simple creature. 😉
I had another tab open. It normally lets me navigate around... but more than a few minutes (not sure the exact time) and it went to sleep. That may be a setting I can fix...
I totally went back to hackmd (I used it before) to create posts here... if they will be substantial.
Thank you for responding! And for all the things! 😍
I love that users from multiple languages are here... but like many other users have written it does make it very difficult to use the forum when all languages are in one place making it somewhat of a mess.
The easiest and perhaps best answer is in adding a language tag to each post (in metadata)... and to facilitate that perhaps a setting per user so the tag is always that language.
Then filter by the language you have selected as well.
Yeah i don't see a problem with any of that really. They can choose per comment... a default just means what their defaulted choice would be to save them time and effort and make it easy.
And why would someone mark it as wrong language? If it doesn't have words then why mark it as a langauge at all?... select none. These are strawmen problems that aren't really problems at all in my opinion.
And when someone is viewing why force them into one language... couldn't you just say ALL? It's just a simple filter.
The alternative is to have a completely Korean forum because that's what General almost is right now.
Maybe there's more of a deeper issue that you haven't expressed?
p.s. how come my images don't work in the original post?
How would one handle a topic with multiple languages?
When you post in an english topic, should it lock all responses to english?
If someone quotes a spanish comment and answers in english, how do you deal with that? Do you hide parts of the conversation?
A default is a good idea, that could save users time. But what if someone uses the default english tag but writes in korean?
These are all questions that sound like strawmans but in an implementation you have to find solutions to them. And a solution can be "we don't care about that". But I want to make conscious choices on all these details before I plan an implementation.
My biggest worry with this approach would be making it simple enough for the user. WHat if someone speaks multiple languages? Do they have to select a fitting language for each comment they write? And what if the interface hides important information (say images) because someone accidentally marked it as the wrong language?
I think the idea sounds good in theory but would need to be fleshed out for it to work in reality.

Fair points. I didn't really consider multiple languages on the same topic so i didn't see it as an issue.
Because... Langauge just on posts... which i'm guessing you guys call forum threads?
Aka don't even have a tag for comments. Generally speaking people that write a post in a language are expecting that same langauge as a response. To account for violations of that practice I don't think is your need to work on. That handles 1,2,3,5
As for paragraph 4 ... why would you need to handle when someone does this? I guess the answer is... allow them to change the language tag.
Much of this stuff you kind of just have to let the community handle... "Hey i noticed you wrote a post in Chinese however you tagged it English... here's how you change it. Thanks."
So coming back to this @aggroed and @yabapmatt and team could use this same technique to help with languages on the condensor running splintertalk.io
Which also suffers from a language issue.
Similarly steempeak is completely willing to run interface for ScotBot posts and is very willing to do the same thing... so thus coordination and decentralization of nice system.
Pretty much every card game like Splinterlands has cards that just don't get used much, or even at all. Due to the varying rulesets in Splinterlands I feel that almost all the cards do get some level of play though.
We try to avoid changing the stats/abilities on cards if at all possible but we will do it if we really feel that certain cards are really causing the game to not be fun.

New cards are too overpowered to me. You can say I can buy cards from the market or the orbs. But I have my own budget constraint, so all I can do is just sit down and watch my monsters slaughtered by those who have superior cards.
I understand it is hard to do balancing, for the cards are related to market. If you nerf a card, it's price will go down and vice versa.
But if you want more noobs to join in the game, you should consider regular balancing. Every successful games has its balancing schedule. It will cause many disputes, but also create vitality to the community.
The pictures aren't working for me.
They don't usually call it "patch" it's more of a balancing thing if a card dynamics are for example too strong they'll do some balancing. They haven't done balancing of cards in many months.

There seems to be a few cards that are close to an instant-win. I would count the new summoner Prince Rennyn to this group. It is incredibly hard to win against him, in some game styles it is nearly impossible. On the top levels he is played constantly.
However, I do believe that this will be balanced with more cards, who can counter his +2 life and +1 range. Afterall, when the Beta is over, we will get a set with entirely new cards, which will throw off any balancing we can make right now.
you are right @kevinli. It should be included if nothing else in the higher levels for sure. Me personally I would like to see a daily quest consist of one win in each of the five splinters and one in the dragon also to offer some flexibility.
When we use a dragon summoners, then we have to choose an element, well if you have a water splinter quest and you chose the water element with the summoners dragon, if you win the fight, the quest should count it, right?
We can increase the number of wins to 10.
A victory with a basic summoners = 2 points
A victory with the dragon summoners + the element = 1 point

I dunno.
Dragon quests would be too easy. It removes much of the challenge involved in completing a quest since now you have access to every Splinter + the power of dragons.
If there WERE Dragon quests, I'm guessing it would need to involve like 15 Wins instead of just 5.
Well, it's not guaranteed you'll get the Dragon quest everyday so I think it's only fair it gets thrown into pool with the other types. Dragon cards themselves are getting more diverse with the addition of the Seed packs and orbs.
Yes, Yes and Yes! @kevinli, I have thought about this so often and I fully agree. Dragon has become a splinter that has many different cards to even play by its own but always has one of the other splinter extra. So it should be no problem to make that happen. I assume, in the beginning the Dragon splinter had not enough cards yet and was made entirely out of legendary cards to make sense as a daily quest. This has changed now and we can move on. Like you wrote, it will help with the Dragon economy of the game.

Agreed, they would cycle through and not all dragon teams are superior to non-dragons.

Great idea, Exxyle. This will lower the steep entry curve. The game is amazing but can be overwhelming for a new player. Finding out what is what easy and quick is key.
Yes, espeicially when they drop like 5 new abilites with a new expansion. Even a small section at the bottom where a legend of the all abilities and what they do would be helpful.
It might be a good idea to have a Welcome/Introduce yourself main forum where new members can start their own new topic to introduce themselves. It helps members with taking that first step in creating a new topic and helps with creating interaction.
The post will be a great idea! It will give other players a better understanding of who you are, let the user try out how to submit a new post, reply, vote if they have spt. It will be pretty good.

My thoughts exactlly. Its a good way to go through all the motions of creating that first post and getting farmiliar with the settings.
I think its purposely set up so we can only pay with DEC so it acts as a SINK for DEC.
In that case it could be nice to offer Paypal on Steem-Engine, buy any coin with USD value and then Steem-Engine buys back Steem on the open market (or keeps some stashed for that) to properly lock it in SteemP. They could charge a few percent for that service.

That would be nice but PayPal doesn't like crypto and doing such a thing would likely lead to legal trouble.
Yeah it is for sure a sink for DEC there has to be one in place as the potions don't go for all that much. You can buy it with steem etc. Just exchange in to steem-engine steem > DEC ;)
Firstable I'd like to congratulate the developer team for this great game. I know there is planned a mobile version of the aplication for the end of year, but perhaps would be easy to make some adaptations to make the web more responsive in order to work confortable with mobile resolutions. And this could be have it sooner?
We plan to make the web site more mobile friendly as part of the mobile app project. We are working on redesigning the majority of the game specifically for mobile devices.
A place for us to showcase our underdog Battles and brag about our tournament wins and also a place for us to vent about our most devastating and soul crushing losses.
Your SOTF kept missing her Medusa, too. You'd have to have been dark at that.
Triple heal team, self healing Earth elemental up second to self heal, that's a solid team.
Great idea to have a bad beats/unlikely wins category. I've had a few knock my socks off, (in both directions) and wanted somewhere to share.
Good call.

It was interesting watching that battle unfold in real time. I suspect a Bad Beat section could provide everyone with some good entertainment. I had a few head scratchers with under-powered teams giving me a proper whooping as well that would be fun to share.
I couldn't resist ordering the aniversary offer but i am not going to click 575 times on a pack to see what is inside, i would put them on them market only for that reason! It was a feature before, i know the system has changed but it is still absolutely possible, don't care about the time it takes, i care about the clicks i have to make and the time I have to put in it
User @reggaemuffin wrote at 28.05.2019 09:36:42 UTC:
Oh yes, opening all the packs takes a super long time. It is fun but not if you have to open up 500 packs :D
I really hope that the bulk open option comes back!
I agree it's slow opening them one by one, waiting for the animation each time, but I think this is because they changed the design so that a transaction needs to be submitted to the blockchain to generate each pack when it's opened, rather than pre-generating them as used to be the case.
Yeah i shudder at the thought of having to open 500 packs if someone were to buy them. It's fine that it takes 6 seconds to check for the block... but opening multiple packs couldn't they just submit a whole bunch to the blockchain at once? Or just say... "we are automating the process for you check back later" Then give you a screen that let's you flip over the hundreds of cards?
There's a setting for "disable all sounds" but I do like hearing some of the sounds that indicate a match is starting or things like that. I end up having to refresh pages a lot, though, and then even if I've muted the song, it starts playing again. Nothing against the song, but I don't really ever want to hear it while I'm playing, and it would be cool to just permanently disable it.

Yes! I always disable the music because it is so loud but the ingame sounds and the notification when a match starts are invluable. It would be awesome to be able to seperate that.
We meet same person in game many times but do know how many times I won/lost against him/her and how many times we played in total. It will be nice to have such stats when we search enemy and find a opponent. The stats can be shown before we start making team and I think it will create more excitment when we see someone always beating me :)
I see @deadzy. Yeah that would be cool. We also could have more "sit and go" tournament style events also which would be really neat as well. Yeah, again if we all could program these things would be very simple to do, lol. Good point once again.
That would be sick @deadzy. Tower defense? What exactly do mean by that? I am new to these games just wondering exactly what style of a side game you are talking about.
I'm a visually impaired player, and depend on screen reader software to use the computer. I really wish the website would get more accessibility improvements. I have always had a hard time to select my cards to send into battles, because the cards selection screen isn't friendly to screen readers and keyboard interactions. Until January of this year, I was able to select cards, though I had a lot of trouble with the interface as well. I was away for a few months for real life reasons, and when I came back, I found that I can't even select cards anymore. I'm not sure what has changed....
What happens now is that the screen reader reports the cards as being button objects, but I can't navigate through the cards from the keyboard using "Tab" or "Shift" + "Tab" (focus doesn't stop on the cards), and can't activate them using the "Enter" or the "Spacebar" keys like with normal button objects. I also tried the screen reader's command to show a list of button objects on the page and simulate a button press from there, but even them the cards don't activate. The result is that the countdown runs out while I'm unable to select any card, and I end up kicked out of the battle...
I only have the Orca screen reader for Linux and can't test whether the same also happens with other screen readers.
Hi Aiyumi, I also use a screen reader. I use VoiceOver on iPhone and Jaws for windows. It works OK with these, although a little clunky at times. We can chat more about this if you text me on Discord.
At the time I had Windows, I didn't have Jaws - I used NVDA. But I don't have Windows anymore, and can't test NVDA with the site.
A few months back when I was somewhat able to play Steem Monsters, it was very clunky here on Linux too. I had to use a keyboard shortcut to have a review cursor focus on the card's name and then use another keyboard shortcut to simulate a mouse click on the card. This didn't always work, but when it did, I could play the matches. Now I don't seem to be able to make this method work anymore.
I hadn't considered trying it on the phone (my phone is Android). I'm guessing that locating and tapping on the cards on mobile might be easier since we have to navigate the screen with our fingers, and don't need to depend on whether the element is programmed to be focusable with shortcuts. As long as the screen reader can read the card's name, we can probably tap on it. I'd prefer to play the game normally on PC, though.
PS: you're the one who pointed out the accessibility problems the SM team has fixed, right? What problems were these?
Hi Aiyumi, unfortunately I'm not familiar with Linux. But I do have NVDA and it works with that. On Linux, are you able to navigate a webpage by buttons via a shortcut key? If so, selecting a card for battle should just be navigating to the card button and pressing Enter. Not sure why you're not able to activate the button by pressing Enter. I know sometimes I have needed to press Enter twice. I actually suggested this change to Matt, as I found the image based cards much more difficult to select in the past, as navigating through images was a lot more time-consuming and I would often get timed out.
In terms of the accessibility improvements, since the update of the card market a couple of months ago, there was no way of selecting a card on the Card page of Steem Monsters as the check box wasn't detectable with a screen reader. @yabapmatt fixed that with this release. Also, with one of the recent updates, it made the button to Open and Transfer packs undetectable with a screen reader. But now this has been fixed.
If you have any suggestions, happy to chat more about it.
My screen reader properly activates buttons with "Enter" when they're standard "button" HTML elements, but it doesn't have much luck with the "custom nonstandard objects + onclick" stuff. From what I remember, NVDA seemed to fare a bit better at detecting and dealing with these "clickable" objects.
More ideas. I think NVDA activates clickable objects (custom elements with the "onclick" attribute) with Enter even if the object isn't programmed to respond to the Enter key. This may be the reason pressing Enter works for you but not for me (I don't know about Jaws, but maybe it also does that). From what I noticed, Orca (the screen reader for Linux) doesn't seem to activate clickable objects with Enter, just with the keyboard shortcut that simulates a mouse click.
I did a little test. I went to my cards collection page and used Firefox's HTML inspector to make some temporary changes and play around with the page's HTML. I added 'tabindex="0"' to one of the card "buttons," and this made it possible to focus on the card using the keyboard, but Enter still didn't activate it. This makes me think that the "pressing Enter to activate cards" suggestion actually isn't implemented yet, but it works for you because your screen reader "clicks" with Enter :P .
O that’s interesting. I’m not sure about exactly how it works. If you got any suggestions on how it could be made to work with your screen reader, @yabapmatt might be able to do something about it if it’s not too difficult. Best thing would be to discuss this in Discord.
Nearly one year ago, I wrote a post talking about these clickable object problems and how to fix them. The problem should actually be very easy to fix. It should be a matter of adding 'tabindex="0"' to the cards so that "Tab" and "Shift" + "Tab" can focus on them, and adding some Javascript so that the fake buttons respond to "Enter" (keycode 13) and the spacebar (keycode 32) like normal buttons do.
To anyone following this topic: my conversation with @nextgen622 continued in the comments outside the topic. It seems that if we use another STEEM frontend (Busy, Steempeak etc.) and reply directly to each other instead of the comment that started the topic, the forum doesn't show our replies.
We discussed peculiarities of our screen readers, and ideas to fix the accessibility problem in question. Below is the link:
I wish there was a option to translate everyones language so I then could understand what they are saying ...... and vote more! ~Raynie!
If you know a way how to do this I would love to implement it. Google Translate charges a lot of money for their translation services and I don't know of public services that we can use.
I don't care how much it costs JUST GET IT DONE. LOL I am just kidding! That kinda sucks that it costs so much. I would really like to interract with everyone, not just be segregated due to language barriers. Guess I need to learn German, Russian, Korean.... heha. ~Raynie!
Don't forget to add on Chinese into your learning list @raynie XD

I was so thinking Chinese too! And Polish.... well on on the battle page today there is a language option in the upper right hand corner- they do need flags though..... Guess it's a start !!! Someday! ~Raynie!
Currently, there are 8 big tournaments (prize > $100) every week. There are 2 of each of below
Gold League Regular Foil
Gold League Gold Foil
Diamond League Regular Foil
Diamond League Gold Foil
I would like to suggest to change at least 2 of the above tournaments to a Silver league one. 1 x Silver League Regular Foil and 1 x Silver league Gold Foil.
This will attract more participants. Most lower league players do not have competitive cards to play in Gold and above leagues, especially the Gold Foil ones.
I agree, silver league players don't get rewarded enough, but still silver league players must have invested quite a bit into the game (time and money wise)
I did a mock up. I think it would be very helpful to see how much DEC was earned every battle with a qucik hover of the "i" as well to see the percentage boosts.
Is there an API call for this or is this found inside the results of a battle ... if so it may be something peakmonsters could do. But it's still up to matt.
Today we have gotten the new SEED Germinator promo cards for the Dragon splinter. Among them was Delwynn Dragonscale, a common summoner with +1 Magic attack. That is really cool, because it brings a mana-buff to all other splinters, as Dragon is always playing with one of the other five splinters.
Mana Costs Too High?
However, right at the announcement already, the high mana costs of 5 Mana jumped right our attention. This is on par with the legendary summoners from the Beta edition, in terms of mana costs, who all come with +3 different stats. I doubt that Delwyn will be as powerful as the other 5 mana summoners.
The Splinterlands team justified the high costs with the power of Magic attack, which avoids shields entirely. It makes it more valuable than the +1 Melee Attack from Malric Inferno. The Dragon summoners are more expensive, which seems odd, considering the fact that Selenia Sky costs 3 mana with her +1 Range attack, equaling all other rare sommoners so far with their +/- 1 buff/debuff. Daria Dragonscale already costs 4 Mana for +1 Melee attack, although I would value Melee and Range attack equal, regarding the powerful range attacks in the game (as we can all see with the super dominant cards Prince Rennyn and Selenia Sky both giving +1 Range attack).
Delwyn is now even one mana higher than Daria, following the previous unbalance of buff values for Dragon summoners. And finally, the mystery card, Archmage Arius, has three debuffs (+1 Melee, Range and Magic) and costs only one mana more than Delwyn, although much stronger.
Let's Test The Dragon Summoners
It is a little bit early to shout nerf, but we should open the discussion about that. I invite everyone to test this new card on the battlefield and add your opinion here.
Personally, I think that the entire Dragon splinter needs a summoner cost redesign. Either Selenia is too cheap, or Daria and Delwyn are too expensive. I tend to think that Daria and Delwyn are too expensive but this is something the community needs to test and voice their opinions.
I think its important to note that the new dragon promo summoner is a Common card so it can't be as good as a rare summoner.
The current rare dragon summoner cost 4 Mana and has one buff. It makes sense to me that the common summoner would cost 5 Mana with a buff. If the mana was to go any lower then the buff would need to be removed as to keep the order of things in place (common< Rare < Epic < Legendary)
I agree with all your points. A common summoner has by definition a lower value and/or usability. Maybe that is indeed reason enough to keep it at its 5 mana costs. Because that would equally enable the game to bring out much more powerful summoner for even less mana, on the epic or even legendary level.
The prices haven't stabilized yet but at the moment, Delwyn costs twice as much as Daria Dragonscale, another Dragon summoner but with epic rarity. Delwyn should drop in value over the next time, to truely fulfill its role as a cheap entry summoner for the Dragon splinter, way below the price of the epic Daria. There are plenty on the market now to support that theory. We will see.
It is certainly a powerful card and is offering tons of new combination possibilites. Maybe 5 mana is justified afterall. ;)
For me Delwynn should cost 4 mana, just like Daria. Delwnynn gives +1 magic for each color, and Daria +1 attack for each color. So, should Selenia also cost 4 mana? In my opinion, from the point of view of the game, it's better as it costs 3 points, because if it cost 4 it would be weak compared to Prince.
Another thing is that Delwynn, costing 5 mana points, seems to be a weak solution considering the legendary summoners for 5 mana or Archius Arius for 6 mana.
I do get this point and I think it is a problem to argue that way because it kind of ignores the usability of a card. From a gaming perspective are 5 mana a lot and equal to the costs of the supreme deities legendary summoners. Is this really justified? It makes Delwyn look pale and small next to them. Putting the rarity aspect into a summoners usefulness makes Delwyn potentially a card little used by the players, as it is the only common summoner card. I might be wrong, we have to test that.
Maybe 5 mana is justified afterall. ;)
Currently the price is jumping between 0.09 - 0.14 for the non gold version (Daria is currently 0.40) and I think its likely we may see it go lower. The gold version is only $3.00 (I think its a steal at $3 price and am a little shocked it dropped that low so fast).
I have played a few times with Delwyn Dragonscale and had a lot of fun. It really enables a whole new field of possibilites to create powerful teams. I didn't feel like I was missing out on Mana points, regarding the strength I got. Still a lot of testing to do but I think Delwyn will find its place in top level teams.
Maybe it is time for me to admit that I cried for nerf to early. All-in-all a great card and I am happy to have it maxxed.

I think a lot of this pricing is because currently there is a huge FOMO going on and not many cards are yet redeemend or on the market. I for example will wait before the price is more stable before I do anything with my remaining cards.
Do you mean FOMO for not being able to sell the cards and hence dumping them for cheap on the market?
I noticed there is a voting button and the bar just like on Steemit but are we able to have a drop down to see who has voted and/or their weighting? At the moment, I can see some with a few votes but don't know who supported the suggested etc.
Would be handy :)
Edit: It is actually on the blockchain but just need a bit of digging. So if anyone wants to see who voted and %, you can still check it like on steemd etc
While we are it it: We could probably also reduce the digits after the dot. We have now 6 digits but SPT is worth even less than Steem. Two or three should be enough.
I agree. Definitely need to be able to see who's voting on what. It would also be nice to see the value displayed in conjunction with the slider at the time of upvoting.

I have noticed when you try to upvote on the forum, you don't click but rather hover over the botton and then adjust the bar to set the % you want to vote with. Can we have the same "click" first then adjust just like we have on steemit as what is currently in place I have accidently hit 100% upvote on a comment as I "clicked" rather than hover first cos I am so used to voting manually on the Steemit interface.
Thank you for your suggestion! This is a high priority thing for us, the current upvote button is more of a stopgap solution and we have many things planned for it.
YES!! I am a gamer since I was small and I am currently 17 years old, and something that would be very good to launch small events and give more uses on the way to our beloved DEC.
I played a lot of league of legends and you know that it is a completely free videogame that was raised economically thanks to the evolution of its economic system based on selling in-game products without affect the gameplay.
For example, take out a set of skins for valentines, Christmas, or any other day that is a worldwide celebration. Add animations to the cards, or new and better sounds, special interactions if they wear the skins.
you can also launch an event every time there is a festive day, in the form of a calendar giving little incentives for each day followed that you connect up to give a exclusive edition card for that event, say at Christmas a monster dressed as Santat Claus, that cant be earned or bought in another way.
I have many more ideas of this type that will go up, I hope you like it
Most that play SteemMonsters/SplinterLands know there is a cooldown feature on recently played & transfered cards. This is great for helping combat abuse in game play but also has some negative side affects. For example, I delegate out multiple accounts to players via giving them the posting key and delegating them monsters to play with. Currently if I want to upgrade one of those cards for the person playing with it I need to undelegate > upgrade > send back (This puts the card in cooldown). I think it would be nice for us to have the ability to upgrade cards while they are delegated out.
Agreed @rentmoney. Not sure if it's a necessary evil due to the programming or it can be changed but yes it would be a great thing to add some flexibility. I think it would make sense if a card is leveled up at least one level the cooldown should be lifted, halved, or cut to a certain time period, like 12 or 24 hours max, something like that.

Another way would be to allow no cooldown if the cards is delegated back to the exact account it was delegated to. For example, I undelegate a card / upgrade / delegate the card back to the same account = No cooldown.

The following pulled from a steemit post I most recently wrote:
The Quest becomes a daily challenge onto itself, you play one other opponent at a time in a best of seven series (or even five with the same parameters). Yes, I said series, and I said up to as many as seven matches consecutively. This could possibly help in loading times for the matches in not needing to find an opponent, and it makes the series an in game match in itself. The reason for seven is simple-- Six splinters (including Dragon) and one "Wildcard Option" should there be a dramatic seventh match needed to break the tie at three.
Also in the quest option (my apologies for getting a little authoritarian on my recommendation but I like to have the entire reason and thought completed when going through creative exercises) should have three pools of players: Those that have not yet played/or have lost their first quest, those that have won all of their quests so far, and those that have lost two quest series' and are done with quest play for the day.
This may sound harsh and radical, but hear me out. The battle format would allow the player to have the option to play a daily quest in a checklist format of playing up to, possibly all six available splinters, once each time in each series with the exception of being able to use the wildcard option in game seven. So the leaning on of the same lineup could only happen up two times during the match, versus 100% of the daily quest which happens now. It also levels the playing field for those that actually care about completing their daily quest for not having to wait twenty or more matches to have their splinter line up with the meta lineup for that particular splinter. Plus as the match unfolds much more of the element of gamesmanship with each splinter counting down it would actually turn into a chess match so to speak as the game comes down to the wire.
Many of the same options of course could be included, I would go as far to say virtually of them such as the bonuses for cards, awarding winning streaks, ratings methods, and so on. But it also gets rid of the elephant in the room that encourages bot abuse, although it's not as rampant in appearances as it once was in that to place highly it has a lot more to do with the amount of matches played versus the frequency of winning. Yes, of course you have to win a decent amount of time to rank highly in the season play. This way to continue on in ranked play for the daily quest you get to take on all comers in a "Survival Pool" type of ongoing play format that is if you are fortunate enough to keep winning, the competition is getting fierce without question in that respect.
One more thought, I am pretty sure I heard this originally from @davemccoy, so I need to give him the credit where it is due because I loved the idea. At the start of each season before each player plays, they have to declare which level they will be playing the entire season under. From then on, the rest of the season that player's account will only be playing their chosen level until the season's completion.
That is the same sentiment in having a player declare each person within the competitive ecosystem could declare which level novice, bronze, silver, gold, diamond, champion and be grouped and classified how they are doing in the season, or even ranked that way at the end of play. Each player would then have option of how they think they would fair with their own interest in mind, and can make their own decision accordingly.
All of these abilities should somewhat be based on talent that is required to be animated while battle is going on, right? If you have an ability to reflect magic shouldn't that require you the ability to make an action on the battlefield? I know we could always go with "Well that monster is made out of teflon, or whatever so it doesn't matter," or whatever the reason. It just takes me back to a quote someone said about a poor fielding baseball player at third base (to paraphrase) "...the Cubs would've been better to pry up a piece of plywood at third base than have X player because their fielding is so poor." We all know it takes at least some, animate talent to do things, otherwise the game could be "Splinterlands Rock Monsters" where rocks of certain chemical composition can do things...watch as they sit there and blow each other up as a spark from an unidentified source was lit and these rocks starting reflecting it back and forth and blowing each other up. What do you know...another draw, lol. BTW I am not sure if this post is more sarcastic or nerdy and might be at the top of both things ever written or said in my life, and I love it.
Short answer: Stun makes a lot of sense to counter other abilities, that currently are passively still funcational. Cards like Lord Arianthus, which has become one of the most used tanks, could be much better countered with a stunner. It makes so much sense and would be a nice way to add some more rock/scissors/paper element to it. And since there are not so many stunners, it would not change the meta too drastically.
Would be nice to have a search function for whole forum on the front page or the top of the forum. So example, if i wanted to search for "card rental", I can easily do a search on all the topics or mentions of those key words.
PS - There may be one but I can't see to find it :)
For example if we pick up single orbs or beta packs at a time, have an option to purchase a token with 5 charges on a token for the alchemy potion or legendary token. 1 Alchemy token=5 brilliant charges, 1 Legendary token=5 brilliant legendary charges. Could even mark up them up a tiny bit if needed for the "loosey" potion tokens, lol.
What if there were a formula that @yabapmatt or one of the other geniuses in programming, and/or in math (we know there are several here) to figure out a Victory Rating and Defeat Rating.
Maybe have it based on what you have left after a match is over. Say you won a match by RNG luck, when you both are down to the same attack & speed, that would rate in the middle. If you absolutely smoke someone who just was flat out unlucky or just guessed totally wrong in what you are doing (been on both sides of that one believe me) then based on what you have left standing, maybe their health ratings, and what they would improve to were there more infinite rounds-if they would heal or very soon die. A few moving parts I know, and of course I am not forgetting the low end of the rating-face it when you get blugeoned...brutally.
It would be kind of funny to see how low your relative battle rating would be, based on the damage or lack of damage you put on the enemy. Maybe someone like @tcpolymath could come with the tcpolymath devestation quotient, something crazy like that. I would surely have some very low ratings on this scale. This would be more for entertainment value of course could be pretty fun. This was inspired by a @tsnaks thread a little bit ago when talking about achievements.
I don't think these two buttons do anything different. This was overseen at the beginning and never resolved. Lets bumb this up. It is a silly thing and should be gone. Let's make some noise about that. I am sure it is just a few lines of code to make this work.
When I made the UI, the BATTLE AGAIN button was supposed to start looking for a new opponent right away. I never asked Yaba why it didn't, haha. It's probably just a dumb miscommunication that never got resolved.
...or...
It's quite possible that there is a secret and much more sinister explanation. One that involves baby seals and the world's supply of mayonnaise.
I don't hit either of those buttons, I hit "battle" up in the top nav before the battle is over and it saves a step. Sorta. You just never see the popup.
As we can see there are many posts with different languange listed in the forum. But ususally most of us can only read the posts in very few languages. I suggest that add a language filter to the forum as below picture to filter the posts with the language we don't know. That's a better user experience.
Best Regards!
Below is a topic in which @jarvie has puts forth a good suggestion on the topic and I chime in with an alternative suggestion in the comment section. A filter will work great or sub-forms for different languages would be good as well.
Although we can see the feebacks to the posts we make from other DAPP. But sometime we want to review all the post we wrote for Steemmonsters. It's not easy to find them from other DAPP because we have many of blogs. So would you like to add 'My Posts' feature to list all the posts we wrote on this forum?
Currently we have a show all topics feature on top of the forum. I think it would be a good idea to have a Subscribed threads link and/or a new replies link (or a combination of the two under a single link). A subscribed threads link would list the topics we responded to / a new replies link would list replies to our own topics/comments. Both feature would come in handy for everyone and save us time in searching for a specific topic we visited at an earlier date.
As the title says, I think it would be a good idea to allow us to change our title on our topics here on the forum. Currently when we go to edit a post we are unable to do this.
Its possible that there is already a way and I'm completely over looking it.
What if we had Achivements in steemmonsters.
You know like most games have.
For a quick example something like "Overkill an enemy monster by 5 points of damage"
And there could be rewards for completing quests.
Maybe just give a rewards card for each achievement completed.
I just had this brief idea randomly pop into my mind, what do you guys/gals think about it ?
Cool points, that would be interesting. Also I have thought it would be cool if your win was rated, or weighted based on your dominance. You squeek by, it's a lower rating, you guess just right and get a serious pummeling you would of course get a higher rating having most or all of your cards still alive with high health when the match is completed.
Super cool idea. We could even retrospective scan the blockchain for achievements done in the past. They could have a certain value, maybe DEC drops or something like that.
I think achievements would be a great addition. They are giant success in other gaming industries and consoles such as XBOX and Poker and likely will be a big hit with the SM/SL community.
Yes, very good idea. I also the idea that you should get a bonus when your complete team is still standing after defeating your enemy. But that could also be one of these achievements.
I think that just like we can tell a difference between alpha and beta monster cards on the battlefield, we should be able to make a difference between alpha and beta summoners.
I would be really interested to know how many people use alpha summoners.
Agreed. I also think there should be a bigger premium on the summoner used for DEC. If you are playing an alpha gold summoner that thing is going to turn into a treasure when they are for the most part gone and rarely even for sale. Full disclosure I own all beta summoners, zero alpha summies (wish I did but the collection of course for me would be much smaller). SM could actually have a classification of base categories of all cards between common, rare, epic, legendary reform in the way of sub classifying cards as the following: common, common summoner, rare, rare summoner, epic, epic summoner, legendary, legendary summoner.
The best decision I ever made was buying out max alpha summoners. The only other summoner I've maxed is Daria. I agree with the others, Alpha summoners should get a boost included after the battle as well for DEC
I think Splinterland Forum tournaments might bring some more users to this place. I think allot of the player base is unaware of the forum. If they see a weekly or monthly tournament in place it might peak the interest of those who never visited yet.

I think most English content creators may have left when general was flooded with non English posts. We may just need a way to bring them back so they see that is no longer the case.

I know what some are you thinking... "I used keychain when i came to this forum"
But what you did was actually use keychain to give buildteam continuous access to your posting authority.
If you go to steemconnect it shows you which accounts have authority to USE your posting authority (note this does not mean they have your key)
THE REQUEST:
So what i'm asking is if we could sign our comments/posts/votes using keychain... and our end decide if we want to give continuous access to this forum but sign each transaction with our keychain. Thank you.
p.s. Now I understand why I never see @aggroed and @yabapmatt posting here.
Very important feature. It would probably also deal with several of these bugs I have been reporting, regarding the login state and posting to the blockchain.
Can you share a link to this info on Steemconnect, @jarvie? I couldn't find a login on their homepage.
Basically what I said in the title ;)
Would be super handy to be able to transfer DEC to another player to buy cards or buy cards directly from the market.
So today I unfortunately just missed the check-in for the Peak Monsters tournament. And a few hours later literally missed another check-in due to internet problems. It's become an increasely annoying feature to have to check-in within 15 minutes of the tournament. Is there any reason why the player isn't automatically checked in when they enter the tournament?
If auto check-ins were approved, there would only be inactive players within the qualifier/1st round. There's probably something obvious that check-ins need to happen that I'm missing but I feel it would give more players a late chance to play the tournament!
I often have to go to potions - mystery, gold or legendary to check how much I have left, would be nice to see it in an overview on the top bar, maybe next to the DEC ECR?
It's pretty much all in the title ^ please show the community you care about this project and token by actively participating in the message board. Proactively starting conversations is always good as well as requesting people's email so we can get notifications (if individuals decide they want that) when a new discussion has begun.
Please make TokenBB remember to stay logged in. Should be no problem, as all other Steem platforms offer that as well. It is pretty annyoing to login 20x a day.

Yes, please create some language solutions. It is very confusing to find all these Korean posts in General. No offense to the language, I am glad we have that strong community here. But we should be able to quickly find posts in our own language and not scan throw a sea of unknown letters to find something in English (or whatever language you speak).
What languages are strong on Splinterlands? We obviously have many Koreans, but what about Chinese and Japanese? Germans are many here and Spanish is the second most spoken language in the world.
I forwarded the suggestion to @aggroed, he is the one managing the forum :)

I would like to suggest- A notification sound sytem at tournament check in time and starting time. This will help people not missing tournaments in case they have sm on active window.
This even works on Steem but here the title seems to be locked. There is no option to edit it. For people like me, who change 100 things AFTER publishing, that is really bad.
As a casual reader on monsters.tokenbb.io, I would like to be able to hold the Shift Key while clicking on a link so that it opens a thread in a new window, so I don't lose my place on a forum.
Instead, when I shift-click, I typically get a blank page.

Yes! This is a bug that we are currently working on to fix. With our CORS/Iframe setup, such things can happen and we will fix them :) If you notice other things not working in this regard, please tell me
I'm really enjoying playing the game and watching this bulletin board.
I think it's mutually beneficial to vote on every article, so that's what I'm doing so far.
Also, I want to vote with 50% mana because this board is not everything for me.
But I have to control the gauge every time.
How can I fix my vote weight as of 50% ?
In regular forums we have the option to move a post into different topics, categories or sub-forums. Since Token BB runs on the blockchain, I am not sure how far this is possible with the current code. But it would be great to be able to change that. For example: I posted Delwynn Dragonscale - NEW Dragon Summoner with +1 Magic Attack - Too Expensive with 5 Mana? into the Suggestion Box. Now I realize, that it might have been better placed into Card Discussion.
I would love to have the option to edit my post and change the category. Additionally, opening up an entire new rabbit hole, a moderator (are there any moderating tools for Token BB already?) could do that instead of the author, cleaning up the mess that naturally comes together in a piblic forum.
Good idea @flauwy, there is a high chance that posters are going to post topics in the wrong forum sections. A moderator/Admin having the ability to move them around is something that is likely going to be needed to keep the forum "clean" once all the monster maniacs come joining and posting.
Would be great if in the collection section you can see the total value of your deck of cards in money and in DEC. Perhaps could be fine too have the posibility of trade with the full stack of cards or group them.
Hello rishi, thank you for your answer. Could you please being more especific? I enter in discord channel of splinterlands but I don't know how use the bot and who is it?
When we delegate a card to another player, we can see a nice little hover text, we move the mouse over the delegation icon.
++Delegator's perspective while hovering over the delegation icon:++
However, from the delegatee's perspective, there is a) no hover text with the information from whom this card was delagted from and b) no option to actually cancel the delegation. Only the delegator can cancel the contract with the official Splinterlands UI. This is pretty annoying and confusing at times.
++Delegatee's perspective while hovering over the delegation icon:++
I suggest we get both a) and b) options but I find a) the info with the delegator's name more important, as it doesn't hurt to have delegated cards. We cannot break a delagtion of Steem Power either, so I would get that b) is rather neglectible.
I am getting this error message for all my comments on the forum:
However, when I refresh the page (and annoyingly logged in again, see my other suggestion post), the comment is there without any problems.
Edit: Posting this new post also ran into an error. It never finished posting, although on the blockchain it happened and after I refreshed the page (and annoyingly logged in again, see my other suggestion postLOL
This isa problem with brave with shields up. They basically block our drafts feature (and persistent login). We are working on a notification to brave users to let them know that lowering shields will greatly improve tgeir user experience and we will fix the error in case the browser disallowed us to save post drafts in localstorage.
I have to bump this as it is incredibly annoying and confusing for new users, who make double and triple posts. This is important to get fixed. Every single post I make, I don't see it get's posted although it does. And every single comment I make, this error above pops up although the comment correctly gets posted to the blockchain.
The General category is already filled with Korean posts and comments in otherwise English posts. We should encourage people to post either in English or move the discussion to a localized forum.
We don't need tons of different languages yet, maybe just Korean and Spanish for starters. We can still add more, with growing demand.
Since this is a blockchain forum, I doubt there are many moderation tools. Has anybody more experience with TokenBB? I have heard about this yesterday for the first time. It would be cool to have at least some level of moderation.
The solution isn't to block languages but to improve the technological implimentation in order to facilitate them all... and the solution could be actually very very simple. - @jarvie
No idea why it's saying guest user when i've logged in.
I only just started here but I have found a lot of helpful information and so far meet a great bunch of people. Best thing about communities is being with like minded people which is why I feel this site and many others will florish as we all move forward.
However one thing that is sticking out at me about this site is it is difficult to keep up with replies to your posts. Would it be possible to add some type of notification bell that lets me know when their are replies to my created forum posts or if I am quoted ? Thanks!
It has become clearer and clearer over time playing this game that out of all the rare summoners so far Zintar is the least useful. The reason for this is because his talent is dependent on the opponents choice of cards. If I choose Zintar and my opponent uses a team without melee attack I have just waisted a mana point for nothing. He is the only rare summoner with this dissadvantage.
I find that more times than not (with very few ecceptions like melee only match) it is better to just use Jarlax because the odds are stacked agains anyone choosing Zintar.
The fix for this in my opinion is very easy... simply change his ability from munus one melee to minus one health or even minus one speed for opponent.
I think that health makes more sense because of being a death creature and all, but either one of these things would keep in the spirit of what I believe was originally intended and even out the power disadvantage.
Either health or speed will affect entire team and not be dependent on opponents choice to have any impact on match.
Topic: Embedded Battle Replay
As a splinterlands player, I would like to be able to share a battle link in a monsters.tokenbb.io topic, so that the battle would play right in the topic.
For example, if I paste this link:
https://steemmonsters.com?p=battle&id=64b59e1f0a6de23fc7e91ed4af2315f2c60e307d&ref=inertia
It'd be cool if just doing that would automatically embedded a battle replay.

I am not sure if @yabapmatt allows embedding the replay view somewhere else, but that might be something they want to provide :)
Please keep suggesting cool features like this!

If a chat box is implemented and on chain then it could eat up allot of RC. Which could he a huge hinderance to new players / players lacking RC. It might be best to have a chat box that isn't connect to STEEM comments. If it must be connected then I would 100% go with a shout box over a chat box.

Topic: Suggestion for us dumbasses...

Did you open a new window or tab when creating the gif or did you leave the forum topic you were creating ?
I would suggest creating your post in wordpad or something similiar and then copy paste it here when finished.
Great suggestion for the draft to be included, fingers crossed that it gets implemented.

@reggaemuffin

Topic: One method to Easily Solve the language issue

I think it would be better to have the main forum English and then have a section dedicated to other languages.
Layout would be:
Main Forum (English)
Forum Section (Other Languages)
Sub-forum:French
Sub-forum:Spanish
Sub-forum: XXXX
The above is one of the more succesful ways I seen it done on other forums I been apart of in one form or another.

Topic: Are there any plans to patch the cards?
Some cards are not used too much, and some cards are used too often.
Of course, cards that are not often used now can be made with DEC.
However, even if the card's scarcity increases, the card's abilities remain the same.
In terms of price, there will be fluctuation.
However, it is a card that is still not used in the game.
Regular patches are required to use a variety of different cards.

Yes, Yes and Yes! @kevinli, I have thought about this so often and I fully agree. Dragon has become a splinter that has many different cards to even play by its own but always has one of the other splinter extra. So it should be no problem to make that happen. I assume, in the beginning the Dragon splinter had not enough cards yet and was made entirely out of legendary cards to make sense as a daily quest. This has changed now and we can move on. Like you wrote, it will help with the Dragon economy of the game.

Dragon quests would be too easy. It removes much of the challenge involved in completing a quest since now you have access to every Splinter + the power of dragons.
If there WERE Dragon quests, I'm guessing it would need to involve like 15 Wins instead of just 5.

I agree it's slow opening them one by one, waiting for the animation each time, but I think this is because they changed the design so that a transaction needs to be submitted to the blockchain to generate each pack when it's opened, rather than pre-generating them as used to be the case.

Topic: Can't Send Cards into Battle Using a Screen Reader

Reply to Can't Send Cards into Battle Using a Screen Reader
Hi, @nextgen622,
At the time I had Windows, I didn't have Jaws - I used NVDA.

Currently, there are 8 big tournaments (prize > $100) every week. There are 2 of each of below

Topic: Delwynn Dragonscale - NEW Dragon Summoner with +1 Magic Attack - Too Expensive with 5 Mana?
Delwin Dragonscale: +1 Magic / 5 Mana

Reply to Delwynn Dragonscale - NEW Dragon Summoner with +1 Magic Attack - Too Expensive with 5 Mana?
I think its important to note that the new dragon promo summoner is a Common card so it can't be as good as a rare summoner.
The current rare dragon summoner cost 4 Mana and has one buff. It makes sense to me that the common summoner would cost 5 Mana with a buff. If the mana was to go any lower then the buff would need to be removed as to keep the order of things in place (common< Rare < Epic < Legendary)

Reply to Delwynn Dragonscale - NEW Dragon Summoner with +1 Magic Attack - Too Expensive with 5 Mana?

I do get this point and I think it is a problem to argue that way because it kind of ignores the usability of a card. From a gaming perspective are 5 mana a lot and equal to the costs of the
supreme deitieslegendary summoners. Is this really justified? It makes Delwyn look pale and small next to them. Putting the rarity aspect into a summoners usefulness makes Delwyn potentially a card little used by the players, as it is the only common summoner card. I might be wrong, we have to test that.View the topic on TokenBB

Do you mean FOMO for not being able to sell the cards and hence dumping them for cheap on the market?

Topic: Holiday Skins and a special card

Topic: Upgrade Cards While Delegated
Most that play SteemMonsters/SplinterLands know there is a cooldown feature on recently played & transfered cards. This is great for helping combat abuse in game play but also has some negative side affects. For example, I delegate out multiple accounts to players via giving them the posting key and delegating them monsters to play with. Currently if I want to upgrade one of those cards for the person playing with it I need to undelegate > upgrade > send back (This puts the card in cooldown). I think it would be nice for us to have the ability to upgrade cards while they are delegated out.
What does everyone else think ?
Would you like to see such a feature added ?

Agreed @rentmoney. Not sure if it's a necessary evil due to the programming or it can be changed but yes it would be a great thing to add some flexibility. I think it would make sense if a card is leveled up at least one level the cooldown should be lifted, halved, or cut to a certain time period, like 12 or 24 hours max, something like that.

Topic: Make All Six Available Splinters Part of the Quest?

Topic: Cut Healing/Magic Reflect/ReturnFire/Void/Shield While Stunned?

Topic: Win/Loss Rating for Each Match?

Topic: May you add languages filter to the forum?
As we can see there are many posts with different languange listed in the forum. But ususally most of us can only read the posts in very few languages. I suggest that add a language filter to the forum as below picture to filter the posts with the language we don't know. That's a better user experience.

Currently we have a show all topics feature on top of the forum. A subscribed threads link would list the topics we responded to / a new replies link would list replies to our own topics/comments. Both feature would come in handy for everyone and save us time in searching for a specific topic we visited at an earlier date.

Topic: Auto Check-Ins For Tournaments?
Hey Splinters,
So today I unfortunately just missed the check-in for the Peak Monsters tournament.
Let me know your thoughts!
Keep DEC'n Out!

A forum would be very messy, if it's mixed up with many different kind of languages in a section.
In order to avoid this situation, it's neccessary to create sub language's sections, which are exclusively for certain languages.
At this moment, the most players in Splinterlands are speaking these languages:
English
Korean
German
Spanish
Chinese
Japanese
Just create these sub language's sections, so they can discuss and chat in their own mother tongue.

But we should be able to quickly find posts in our own language and not scan through a sea of unknown letters to find something in English (or whatever language you speak).
What languages are strong on Splinterlands? We obviously have many Koreans, but what about Chinese and Japanese? Germans are many here and Spanish is the second most spoken language in the world.

Topic: Forum Management: Move Posts To Different Categories

Topic: More Options For Delegatees Of Cards

- @jarvie

Topic: Notification Bell
I only just started here but I have found a lot of helpful information and so far meet a great bunch of people. Best thing about communities is being with like minded people which is why I feel this site and many others will florish as we all move forward.
However one thing that is sticking out at me about this site is it is difficult to keep up with replies to your posts. Would it be possible to add some type of notification bell that lets me know when their are replies to my created forum posts or if I am quoted ? Thanks!

Topic: Fix Zintar Mortaus and his under powered status.
Am I alone in this?... Thoughts?

Do you think we get a forum group for discussion on SPT economics and trading?
Update:
By the way, can you guys cool it with the posting authorizations?
TokenBB is like the only application using both Steem Keychain and Add Authority.
