Tokyo is a must-visit city before you die. Here are some places to visit in Tokyo (and outside of Tokyo)

Note: This short article is an experiment.

1. Asakusa

Asakusa is an awesome place to visit if you want to wear a kimono, buy souvenirs or even visit an owl cafe.

You should walk along the street on Asakusa all the way to Sensoji Temple. Even if you don't plan to visit the temple, there are plenty of shops along the way to buy souvenirs and some snacks.

Do remember to visit the side streets as well.

2. Hakone

Hakone is not exactly inside Tokyo city, but it's only an hour away if you take the subway.

Hakone is a beautiful place to either go for a day trip or stay overnight (at a room with onsen). You can even view Mount Fuji from certain parts of Hakone, especially near Lake Ashi or when you're taking the ropeway at Sounzai.

You should buy the free pass before going to Hakone.

The best time to go is maybe autumn or spring when the flowers are blooming.

3. Tokyo Tower

Tokyo Tower is quite an awesome place to visit, especially if you're a fan of One Piece. It's now called the One Piece tower! You can even find a One Piece official store on the ground floor of the building.

Tokyo Tower was modeled after the Eiffel tower and looks pretty similar, except that it's probably shorter. It's no longer the tallest tower in Tokyo after SkyTree came into existence.

Here are some things to do at Tokyo Tower.

4. Akihabara

Akihabara is heaven for all otakus across the globe and you can pretty much find all of the anime merchandise you're looking for.

With tons of gachapon machines and maid cafes, Akihabara becomes a must-visit place in Tokyo for all anime / manga fans. There are buildings (over 9 stories) dedicated to selling anime merchandise.

There are even huge buildings that sell all kinds of 18SX toys or hentai manga. Do give it a visit!
