Thomas Keneally: Australian immigration policy echoes Holocaust

The man who wrote the book Schindler’s Ark, which inspired hit film Schindler’s List, says Australian immigration policy echoes the lead-up to the Holocaust.

Speaking at the Sydney Jewish Museum last Wednesday night, Australian author Thomas Keneally made the provocative comments.

Avi Yemini fired back, telling Tom Elliot from 3AW radio

On the face of it, it’s just an outrageous inflammatory statement with no real point.

What’s he comparing? People ILLEGALLY coming to Australia being detained - to people who were LEGAL citizens of a state, where the state then turned on them for no good reason. They were targeted, oppressed and ultimately exterminated.

It just seems like another case of “I disagree with you” so I’m gonna call you a Nazi.

It’s a boring baseless argument that targets your emotions because no one wants to be labelled a Nazi. But it’s just offensive to the victims of the Holocaust.
