Revisiting an old friend - Note taking Tool : EVERNOTE

in tools •  6 years ago  (edited)

Do you have important documents you store around on your local hardisk or NAS (Network Attached Storage)?

I have friends who over the years have done so, but faced the inevitable hardisk failure. Even the NAS which supposedly save guard against single drive failure wouldn't cut it.

Whats the solution then? Use a cloud tool to store all your data. It's fundamentally backup by the solution provider. Some people think some sensitive data shouldnt be put onto such services.. there's probably some truth to that.

With software services like Evernote, you can email notes into Evernote, can be attachments, images, and they can all be tagged or OCR/index/searchable.

Whats the costs ? Free if you use the Evernote BASIC. But it has restrictions on how much data you can upload per month, and certain search features are not available. Such as seaching text within PDF and Documents. or AI-search which link related documents together.

It's a highly recommended tool to store your important data, from photos, to notes to projects. Or just to organise your thoughts. Collaboration features will need a non-free plan.
