Merhaba arkadaşlar. 2011 yılında başladığım üniversite serüvenimi mezun olarak başarı ile sonlandırmış bulunmaktayım. Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart Üniversitesi Bilgisayar Mühendisliği bölümünden bu sene mezun olan 11 kişiden biri de benim. Üniversite hayatı bana fazlasıyla artılar getirdi. Sizlere neden üniversite okumalısınız hakkında sıradan bir yazı yazmak yerine, biraz daha kendi yaşadığım ve deneyimlediğim şeylerden bahsetmek istiyorum. Sohbet tadında, eğer isterseniz siz de görüş ve fikirlerinizi yorumlarda belirtebilirsiniz.
2011 yılında ilk sınav denememde bu bölümü kazandım. Yıl olmuş 2018 ve sizlerin Doğan Can 7 yılda mı bitirdin 4 yıllık bir okulu dediğini duyar gibiyim. Okulum normal bir öğrenciye göre biraz daha uzun sürdü kabul ediyorum. Sebebine gelecek olursak, kısaca açıklayıp konuya devam edeceğim. Üniversitemin 2.yılının başında bir akşam spor salonuna giderken, bisikletim ile bir kaza geçirdim. İşte tam olarak da bu kaza sebebiyle okuluma ara vermek zorunda kalmıştım. Yüzümde geniş bir deformasyon ve doku kaybı olmuştu. Bu kaza ile ilgili daha detaylı bir yazıyı da sonradan yayınlama düşüncem var. Benim gibi yüz yaralanmalı bir kaza geçiren insanlara, yaşadığım süreçleri, gördüğüm tedavileri ve kullandığım ilaçları anlatabileceğim bir yazı.
Konumuza geri dönüyorum. Soru cevap şeklinde, Üniversite okumak ve Üniversite hayatım ile ilgili görüşlerimi sizlerle paylaşacağım. Hadi ilk soru ile başlayalım.
Neden Bilgisayar Mühendisliği?
Küçüklükten beri teknolojiye olan ilgim üst seviyedeydi. Askeri bir ailede büyüdüğüm için çok genç yaşlardan itibaren hayalim Pilot olmaktı. Havacı subay. Ve bu hayalimi gerçekleştirirken, işin arka tarafta çalışma mantığını kavrayıp kullandığımız makinelerin içini, çalışma mekaniklerini bilebiliyor olmaktı. 2011 yılında Hava Harp Okulu askeri mülakatlarında sağlık sebeplerinden ötürü elendim. Ben de bilgisayar mühendisi olup, mezun olduktan sonra THY (Türk Hava Yolları) vb. mühendislik kontenjanı ile pilotaj eğitimine alınan insanlardan olma hayaliyle bu bölümü yazdım ve kazandım. Hem teknoloji ile haşır neşir olacaktım, hem de bir mühendislik branşı ile pilotaj yolu açılacaktı önüme.
Neden Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart Üniversitesi?
2011 Üniversite yerleştirme puanıma göre girebildiğim en iyi seçimdi. Diğer üniversitelerin bilgisayar mühendisliği bölümüne puanım yetmedi ne yazık ki.

Çanakkale'de Daha Önce Bulunmuş Muydun?
Tarih kitaplarından bildiğim kadarıyla bilgiye sahiptim, daha önceden Çanakkale'yi ziyaret etmemiş ve bilmiyordum. Bildiğim en güzel artısı gittiğim yerde deniz olacak mutluluğuydu. Çünkü ben sanırsam deniz olmayan bir şehirde yaşayamayacak biriyim.

Mühendislik Uygulamaları Olarak Başarılı Mıydı?
Şöyle söyleyebilirim, teknik üniversitelerde ve özel okullarda okuyan arkadaşlarım vardı. Onların anlattıklarını ben kendi okulumda bulamıyordum. Labaratuvar uygulamaları, teknik ve proje bazlı ders içerikleri, okuldaki eğitmen kadrosu ve sayısı. BU gibi konuları göz önüne aldığımda Mühendislik ile ilgili bir bölüm okumak isteyen insanların isminde Teknik geçen (YTÜ, ODTÜ, İTÜ, KATÜ) gibi üniversitelerde daha başarılı olabileceklerini gördüm. Bizim okulumuz da elbette bize vizyon katma konusunda başarı sağlamış olsa da. Proje, labaratuvar, alanında uzman eğitmen sayısı gibi konularda eksik olduğunu söyleyebilirim.
Okumuş Olduğun Okulun Avantajları / Dezavantajları Kısaca Anlatabilir Misin?
İlk olarak dezavantajlarından bahsetmek istiyorum. Bu her bölüm için geçerli olan bir konu değil bu arada dipnot olarak söyleyeyim. Ülkemizde bilişim sektörü ve aslında bir çok kurumsal firma lokasyon olarak İstanbul'da bulunuyor. Her ne kadar okulun ilk yıllarında bu eksikliği hissetmemiş olsam da, ilerleyen yıllarda, okurken çalışma kavramını uygulayamadığımı, en küçük seminer, bilişim konferansı, sunum, kurs vb. etkinliklerin İstanbul'da olmasından ve benim otobüs ile 6 saatlik mesafede oluyor olmam. Çoğu konuda katılmamı engelledi. Bu ne yazık ki ülkemizin durumundan dolayı böyle ve Çanakkale'de bilişim adına hiç bir şey yok ne yazık ki. Teknokent denilen yer bile sadece ofisler dursun diye açılan bir binadan ibaret (İstanbul'daki üniversite kampüslerindeki teknoparkları gördükten sonra çok üzülmüştüm neden İstanbul'da okumuyorum diye).
Avantajlarına gelecek olursak. İlk başta Şehir size çok büyük avantajlar sağlıyor yaşam kalitesi anlamında. Hayat Çanakkale'de bir öğrenci için gayet uygun ve ekonomik. Küçük bir şehir. Bir yerden bir yere gitmeniz zamanınızı trafikte öldürmeniz yada yetişememeniz anlamına gelmiyor. Şehrin bir ucundan diğer ucuna araç ile 5-10 dakikada gidebiliyorsunuz. Zamanınız size kaldığı için, spor vb. özel hobilerinizi gerçekleştirebileceğiniz, arkadaşlarınıza ve sevdiğiniz şeylere zaman ayırabileceğiniz büyük bir zaman diliminiz oluyor. Çanakkale'nin her sokağı denize çıkıyor ve havsı suyu sizi yaşam enerjisi ile dolduruyor. Üniversite olarak Boğaziçi Üniversitesinden sonra Türkiye'deki en güzel 2. Manzaraya sahip bir lokasyonda. Ve biraz tarih ile haşır neşir olduysanız, yaşadığınız bu şehrin topraklarında ne kadar anlam yattığının bilinci vatani duygularınızı pekiştirmenizi sağlıyor. Çok fazla turist ağırlayan bir yer ve doğal güzellik olarak baktığınızda her yere çok yakınsınız. Adalar (Bozcada / Gökçeada), Asos, Behramkale, Truva Antik Kenti, Ayvalık, KüçükKuyu tarafları ve sayamadığım daha bir çok yer.
Farkındaysanız avantaj olarak ne yazık ki sadece şehiri anlatabiliyorum Okul olarak bölümü pek övemeyeceğim ne yazık ki.
Bilgisayar Mühendisi Oldun da Ne Oldu Şimdi? Format Atan Kişi Sen Misin?
Üniversite okurken de buna benzer sözleri çok duyuyorduk. Format atar mısın benim biligsayara, çıkınca internet kafe açarsın zengin olursun, internet kafecilik öldü artık playstation kafelerde iş var gel bi oyun mekanı açalım, iki de guitar hero koyduk mu çiçek, oturduğun yerden para kazan cümleleri gibi. :)
Tabi ülkemizin durumuna da biraz değinmek gerekiyor. Siyasi görüşünüz, kimi sevip sevmediğiniz beni ilgilendirmiyor elbet ama, her ile üniversite açmanın matah bir şey olduğunu savunan bir yönetici ile labaratuvar açmak yerine dini ibadetlerini yerine getiremiyor bu insanlar deyip Çanakkale'ye en büyük İlahiyat Fakültesi, Cami ve ibadethane yaptırmaya çalışan insanların olduğu bir yerde, bilgisayar mühendisi olmanız inanın size hiç bir şey katmıyor bu hayatta. Şöyle örnek vereyim yaklaşık 107'ye yakın yeni üniversite açılmış. Her okulda sizin bölümünüzden olsa, ve bu bölümler en az 50 kişi alsalar her sene, kaba bir hesapla sizinle birlikte aynı bölümden mezun olan her sene 5.000 kişi var. :) Nasıl başarı ama, kulağa çok başarılı bir ülke olarak geliyor dimi. Aslında değil, artık kafe, restoranlarda, sadece bilgisayar malzemeleri satılıyor diye elektronik cihaz satılan marketlerde mühendisler var ve bunların çoğu asgari ücret şartlarında yaşıyorlar.
Yani Üniversite Okumak ile Adam Olunmuyor?
Üniversite ortamı, kültür, vizyon ve çoğu konuda size katkı sağlıyor fakat, üniversite okurken her sene 5.000 tane adam sizin gibi ben bilgisayar mühendisi oldum diye piyasaya salınıyorken, eğer sadece okula git-gel yapıp dersleri de sınavları verebilmek adına geçtiyseniz, ne yazık ki hiç bir farkınız kalmıyor. Farkı, bu kazandığınız vizyon ile çalışmaya dökerseniz, işte gerçekten bir bilgisayar mühendisi sıfatına layık olmuş olursunuz.
Peki Yeni Planlar Neler?
Her ne kadar istemesem de, sadece gezmekten keyif aldığım fakat hayatımı orada geçirmek istemediğim bir şehrin yolu gözüküyor şuan. İstanbul. Ülkemizdeki iş potansiyeli olarak ne yazık ki pek fazla alternatifimiz yok. Hayatımda iş bulma sürecine giriyorum şuan. Bulmuş olacağım iş'te çalışırken, akşam kalan zamanımı iyi olan ingilizcemi uluslar arası platformda kanıtlayabileceğim bir dil kursuna gidip TOEFL yada IELTS sınavlarına hazırlanacağım. Bu belgeleri aldıktan sonra Bilgisayar Mühendisliğinin Web Site yapmak yada format atmaktan ibaret olmadığını düşünen, bu insanlara bilim adamı gibi yaklaşıp, fikir ve projelerini maddi olarak destekleyen ülkelerde, eğitim ve iş hayatıma devam etmek istiyorum. (Yurtdışına çıkmak istiyorum.)
Eklemek İstediklerin?
Üniversitenin bize kattıkları şeylerden en önemlilerine de değinmek istiyorum. Bunlardan ilki farklı kültürlerden insanlarla karşılaşmak, yaptığınız proje ve işlerde bunları sunabileceğiniz, konuşmacı olarak katılabileceğiniz özgür toplanma oluşumları, konferanslarda öğrenci kimliğiniz ile yer alabiliyor olmak. Zengin içerikli ve farklı dilden kitaplar ile donatılmış kütüphaneleri keşfetmek ve içerisinde sabahlamak. Çanakkale'deki üniversite kütüphanemiz 7/24 açıktı mesela, çok güzel bir detay bu. Ülkelerin siyasi yada herhangi kaygıları yüzünden toplumuna internet ve özgürlük anlamında uyguladığı çoğu baskıdan kendinizi soyutlayabilmeniz. Bunlardan en önemlisi belki de EDUROAM diye bilinen Ulaknet Ankara tarafından sağlanan üniversiteler interneti. Hız, özgürlük ve çoğu konuda bir öğrenciye sağlanabilecek en başarılı internet ağı. Ülkenin herhangi bir üniversitesine'de gitseniz bu internet ağı şifreniz ile oradaki eduroam ağına bağlanabiliyor olmanız ve dünyadan, teknolojiden, yeniliklerden ve özgürlüklerimizden uzak kalmıyor olmanız.

Özetle ülkemizde ne yazık ki Bilgisayar Mühendisi mezunu olmanız kendi başına bir iş yapan bir konu değil. Kişisel gelişiminiz, katıldığınız proje ve çalışmalar, referanslarınız ve daha bir çok şey, sizi bu bahsi geçen 5.000 kişiden önde kılacaktır emin olun. Üniversite okuyun mutlaka fakat farkınızı yaratın.

I am one of the 11 graduates who graduated from Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University Computer Engineering this year. University life has brought me so much more. Why Computer Engineering?
Since I was little, my interest in technology has been on the top level. Since I grew up in a military family, I wanted to be a pilot for many years. In military. I thought that if I could become a computer engineer, I would be able to achieve my dream of a pilot somewhere like Turkish Airlines (THY).

Was it successful as an engineering practice?
I can say that I had friends at technical universities and private schools. I could not find what they told me at my school. Laboratory applications, technical and project-based course content, number of trainees and number of teachers in the school. When I consider things like this, I see that people who want to read a section about engineering can be more successful in universities such as Technical passing (YTU, ODTU, ITU, KATU). Can You Tell The Advantages / Disadvantages of your School?
First, I want to talk about disadvantages. This is not a valid subject for each section, but as a footnote. The information sector in our country and in fact many corporate firms are located in Istanbul. Although I have not felt this lack of schooling in the first years of my school, I would like to point out that I can not apply the notion of studying in the following years, the smallest seminars, information conferences, presentations, I am not in Istanbul and my bus is 6 hours away. Most of them prevented me from participating. Unfortunately, this is because of the situation of our country and in Çanakkale there is nothing in the name of information unfortunately. Even the place called Technopark is composed of a building which is opened only for offices. (After seeing the technoparks on the university campuses in Istanbul, I was so sorry that I didn't study in Istanbul).
Advantages. At first the city gives you great advantages in the sense of quality of life. Life is very affordable and affordable for a student in Çanakkale. A small town. Going from one place to another doesn't mean you can not catch up with the traffic. You can go from one end of the city to the other in 5-10 minutes by car. Because your time is up to you, sports etc. you have a great time period, you can spare time with your friends and the things what you like. Every street of Çanakkale goes to the sea and the sea is filled with life energy. After the Bogazici University as 2nd in the most beautiful location with a view in Turkey. Çanakkale is a place that welcomes a lot of tourists, and every time you look at it as a natural beauty you are very close. The Islands (Bozcada / Gokceada), Asos, Behramkale, Troy Antique City, Ayvalık, Kucukkuyu sides and many more places I can not count. You're a computer engineer, what's changed? Are you the person who formatted your computer :) ?
While we were studying at the university, we could hear a lot of similar words. You can open the internet cafe when you are out of format, you are rich in internet cafes, you have to work in playstation cafes. Let 's open the game room and two of the guitar hero have put flowers, money from the place where you live. :)
Of course, we have to mention a little about the situation of our country. You do not care about who you like or do not like, but you can not fulfill religious worship instead of opening a lab with a manager who argues that opening a university with everybody can not fulfill their religious worship. There is a place where people are trying to make Çanakkale the greatest theology faculty, mosque and places of worship , believe that you are a computer engineer, you do not add anything in this life. As an example, about 107 new universities were opened in our Country. Each school has 5,000 people each year, graduating from the same department with a rough account each year, if you are in your school, and if these departments take at least 50 people each year. :) How success, however, is coming to the ears as a very successful country. In fact, there are now engineers in the cafes and restaurants that sell electronic equipment just because just computer equipment is sold there, and most of them live under minimum wage conditions. Does that mean being a university graduate? You think, are you a computer engineer really, doing starbucks barista? It's just funny. You are not engineer. Just graduated any university.
So do not you become a man with a graduation from a university in Turkey?
The college environment, culture, vision and most of the topics are contributing to you, but you are a computer engineer like 5,000 people every year while you are studying at the university, if you are just going to go to the school and give your lessons exams, unfortunately no you do not know. You have to be aware of the others.
What separates you from 5,000 people? if you can answer, then you can say that I am really a computer engineer.
What are the new plans?
Although I do not like it, it seems to be a city that I enjoy just visiting but I do not want to spend my life there. Istanbul. Unfortunately, we do not have much choice as to the potential of our business in our country. I'm going into the job-finding process in my life. When I work in the business I will find, I will prepare for the TOEFL or IELTS exams on a language course that I can prove on the English-language international platform, which is good for the rest of the evening. I want to continue my education and work life in countries that think that Computer Engineering does not consist only of making a Web Site and then it is like a scientist and financially supports ideas and projects. (I want to go abroad.)
What do you want to add?
I also want to mention the most important things that the university has brought us in. Meeting these people from different cultures, being able to present them in the projects and works you do, free gatherings that you can participate as speakers, being able to take place with your student ID at conferences. Discover and library in libraries with rich content and books of different languages. Our university library in Canakkale is open 24/7. This is a very beautiful detail. You can isolate yourself from the majority of the pressures that the country imposes on the internet in terms of internet and freedom because of any concerns of the countries. Perhaps the most important of these is the internet of universities provided by Ulaknet Ankara, perhaps known as EDUROAM. The most successful internet network that can provide speed, freedom and a student in most subjects. If you go to any university in the country, you will be able to connect to the eduroam network there with this internet network and you will not be away from the world, technology, innovations and freedoms.
To sum up, unfortunately in our country, being a Computer Engineer is not a matter of doing business on your own. Make sure that your personal development, the projects and activities you participate in, your references and much more, will lead you to 5,000 people who pass this bet. Be a university student, but make a difference.
