Jason has sailed the Bosphorus in his search for the Golden Raft as the first navigator. After that, he set his course eastwards along the Black Sea coast with his ship. He has taken him to the hazelnut coast, near Trabzon. In the town of Onea (now Ünye on the Black Sea coast) Jason has met the descendants of the Amazons of Lemnos. They should have been a great help to him in the search for the Golden River.

In Greek-Turkish history there are some references to the Amazons of Ünye. They probably come from a Neolithic, matriarchal tribe, which settled on the coast 4,000 years ago. Mentions of the Amazons at the Thermodon River in Ünye are found in the Troy epic of Homer, for example. The last time they appeared in the 14th century. A Byzantine woman has directed the defense of Onea against the Ottoman troops. The battle against the Ottomans has lost the Byzantines. This was allegedly only possible through the betrayal of the inhabitants of Onea to their general.

Maybe she was an Amazon?
