Today some Turkic tribes in the world beliefs in islam but before this faith, they believed in Tengrism.

Tengrism was once the faith of all the Turkic and Mongolian peoples of Central Asia. This faith is built around the heavenly god Tengri and is composed of animism, shamanism, ancestral worship and a special form of totemism.

In Tengrism, the meaning of life for a human being is to live in harmony with all that is under heaven. Man stands in the midst of the worlds and sees his existence between the eternal blue father heaven, the mother earth, which supports and nourishes him, and a ruler, who is regarded as the son of heaven. With a balanced way of life man keeps his world in equilibrium and exudes his personal power hippo outward. The cosmos, the natural spirits and the ancestors make sure that there is nothing missing and protecting the people. When the balance is disrupted by catastrophe or by the intervention of evil spirits, it is restored by the intervention of a shaman

Tengri is interpreted as a non-personified male deity or as the great spirit of heaven. In Tengrism everything in nature is inhabited by a spirit. Tengri is the most powerful of all. He is considered to be the creator and guardian of the cosmic equilibrium and natural cycles. In contrast to other sacred figures described by the Shamans and in the mythologies of the tengristic peoples, there is no description or personification of Tengri, although he is considered the father of great rulers and many other supernatural powers. He is always mentioned as a timeless and endless blue sky

Tengrism, the ancient religion of the Turkic peoples and Mongols, was first described as shamanism. In the meantime, however, the term shamanism is also used to describe other ancient beliefs and natural religions of different cultures around the world. For this reason, the term "Tengrism" has been used more and more for the traditional religion of the ancient Turks and Mongols for several decades.
