Tanju Colak was born 9. November 1962. He (in the lists, he is, as usual in Turkey, led by his first name Tanju) was in 1988 with 39 goals the most successful European scorer and received from the French trade newspaper France Football the "Golden Boot". The relatively unknown in Europe scorer of Galatasaray Istanbul is worshiped in his homeland by the fans almost idolatrous. Nevertheless, he is considered a "star to touch", who knows no airs and always seeks proximity to his followers.

The sturdy striker (1.75 m, 72 kg) reminds with his talent to goal, his cold-bloodedness at the end and his tricky handling of the ball to his role model Gerd Müller. But in the style of play and in the game understanding also show clear differences to the former Bayern scorer: Colak goes in the game long ways, smelt, avoids the wings and is not too bad to help out in the defense.
His succesfull playstyle let him play in his career for different clubs and he was beloved like a rockstar.
