A swatting incident in Wichita of Kansas state led to a 28-year old man fatally shot and killed by a police officer after a prank caller from two of the suspects probably originating in middle of his Call of Duty session pretending to be the man told the precinct that he shot his father dead and held his family at gunpoint, further added comment that he might as well burn the whole house down. According to statements from the department, the man reached his waistband even though he was given verbal instructions to follow to do otherwise and comply before the gunshot.

Multiple resurgences have occurred for the past 4 years and it's thanks to rise of online gaming, most of the perpetrators tend to be prank callers from middle age to preteens. First early incident was reported back in 2009 by a blind phreaker named Matthew Weigman, after being caught by a Verizon Fraud Investigator was charged with hacking telephone party-lines and made multiple swatting in secrecy, he was sentenced to 11 years in Federal Prison. In 2012, a YouTuber named Keemstar was alleged to doxxing another YouTuber named smile4youtubegaming leading him to get swatted. Many public forums have since then called on Keemstar to be persecuted to the extent of the law for this crime even though some of the info was already public. The NY times has released an article with stories from numerous people including about a girl who was harassed online before one of the incidents.

Further development from the police's investigation found out that both suspects have been suspended or have deleted their Twitter accounts besides this feed above trending. Their names also have been leaked: Miruhcle and Baperizer from losing team of CoD. The manhunt is on the way with deputy chief of Police, Troy Livingston stating that they're building promising leads to find them.

My two cents:
The officer who discharged his firearm was mostly at fault, not disregarding the fact that this was perpetuated by two petty prank callers. Should have swept the area initially or probably take well into consideration the difference between real-life perpetrators and civilians. Such incident could also have been avoided with the proper preparation and training. Police violence has crossed lines before and that does not dismiss the importance of the issue at hand regarding poor law enforcement behavior.
