Cyberpunk's having a bit of a renaissance, but it's a 'retrofuture' retread (for the most part) of the tropes from the 1980s. We're facing down a whole host of new potential technological and social issues that cyberpunk - as a framing device and form of near-future SF - should be tackling, but mostly isn't. Here I lay out some of the looming cultural disasters and ask you what you think we should do.
