Lake Jack London - the meeting place of three weather and three seasons.

One of the pearls of the Magadan region is rightfully the lake of Jack London. Recently it has become a photographic mecca, and it is not surprising, for the photographer here is a real paradise. Autumn in the Kolyma is the most colorful and bright time of the year. If you see it with your own eyes, you will never be indifferent to, though a harsh but beautiful edge.

О происхождении названия озера ходят разные байки, мол, нашли тут на берегу томик Джека Лондона "Мартин Иден", но в реальности всё было проще и книг на берегу никто не оставлял. Название озеру в честь выдающегося писателя дал молодой начальник полевой партии Пётр Иванович Скорняков. Было это в далёком 1932 году, когда парню было всего 23 года.

Lake Jack London is located at the foot of the Great Angchak Range and is located at an altitude of 803 meters above sea level. This is the largest lake in the area, its length is 10 km, and the depth reaches 50 meters. Data for depth I sell for what I bought, I did not dive there for more than 12 meters, my maximum threshold was 13.9 m in the Lake of Dancing Harious, which is also not the limit. The lakes are formed by glaciers, along the shores there are sandy beaches. Often there are larch trees of Kayandera, unusually picturesque looking against the backdrop of mountain peaks and ridges.

In these places there are just three weathers. Because of the ridge, the weather breaks through the Yakutia, on the other side Yagodninskaya, and on the spot there is also Djakovskaya. Here for the photographer umbrella is the same mandatory equipment as waders.

A shower on a sunny day is normal, if you want to take it off, go with an umbrella :)

In addition to three weather, one can find here three months of the year within one month. Autumn in the Kolyma begins early, arriving in mid-August you will see the summer, but in some places you will already see the touch of autumn. Every day the palette will change, gold and coral-red shades will appear more and more. Many bushes seem to be dressed in a rainbow.

Birch Middendorf is a curse for a pedestrian and a blessing for a photographer. Its leaves on one branch can have the foliage color from green to bright red, like a gradient passing into each other - green, yellow, orange and red. And the leaves are dyed smoothly with all the color transitions. See for yourself, below is a picture of this birch on the shore of the Lake of the Dancing Harious.

On Lake Jack London there are islands, on one of them there is a weather station. People live there all year round, so the places are not quite deserted. On the Lake of the Dancing Harious there is a children's camp, children are brought there, but not every year and only one shift. This is due to the poor road and the lack of a bridge over the river Debin, which from a small rain can swell up to a roaring turbid stream in a matter of hours. However, all the Kolyma rivers and streams have this feature, in dry weather the sparrow will walk on foot, and how the rain will pass, so the bridges are demolished.

The main tributaries of Lake Jack London are the river Purga, brooks Studen and Unknown. The snowstorm is noteworthy for its quiet flow with clear cold water, its waters not only replenish the lake, but also bear food - different insects caught in the river. Near the mouth always feeds the cunning grayling and fishing is so good here that in the fishing passion you can catch so many fish that neither eat nor take. It's worthwhile to control yourself. Here it is, this is a fish place :)

If I'm talking about streams, I'll tell you about them. The mountain streams left and right Unknown unite at the foot of the Peak Trident in the azure lake, from which flows the stream Unknown. There are several running lakes along the channel, the largest are Neighborhood and Nevidimka. Beautiful! Do not take your eyes off! Below is a picture with a valley of the right Unknown. See what mad colors, and on the tops of the mountains, as the line already passed the whitewash of Winter.

Lake Neighborhood is named so not with a simple one, it is very near to Jack. Fishing here is also wonderful, but the grayling is mostly young, it is placed on the frying pan, as it is called - a skillet. That's the lake itself, during the evening dawn, barely pulled away from the fishing rod, the fish pecked as if they had never eaten. Two pieces at once dragged. The creek ended right away, as soon as the sun had set.

Well, since we have gone on the Unknown, I'll tell you what it can expect, except for the insanely bright autumn and mountain peaks in the snow. This creek can be reached to the couloir leading to the peak of the Aborigen peak, whose height is 2287 meters. For a long time, the Aboriginal was considered to be the highest point in the Magadan region, even in geography classes we were told this. But later measurements showed that the highest peak in the same ridge is the Snezhny Peak, whose height is 2293 meters. Below, from left to right: Peak Baraniy, Peak Trezubets and absolutely from the edge Peak Aborigen.

Climbing this summit is an old dream and in the expedition of 2018, a march will be made along the Unknown for this purpose. Peak Aborigen is connected by the Pila Pass with the Peak Festival. The height of the saw is more than 120 m (above sea level 1700 meters), it is an impressive wall, which is worth seeing with your own eyes. The mountains are not simple, there you can find rock crystal, morion, tourmaline and even amethysts. No need for Paris when there is a beautiful Saw.

In the photo above, it's not quite snow yet, it's so, riding frosts, we had a snow farther and we sat under a snowfall for 5 days, after which it was decided to return, until the trail completely failed. It turned out that they walked in the autumn, and returned in the winter. Week in the mountains in the end.

The first two days the rain was raining, the umbrellas were very useful to us. And we left already like this ...

There was no talk of an ascension. With excellent weather and no icing, the climbing complexity is zero, and in such conditions the category does not seem to exist. It was necessary to go earlier. The creek was gathering more and more water, it was easier to move to a snowfall. Stlanik under a layer of snow lay down and blocked the trails. It was more expensive to wait for the weather.

But after two days the weather beamed. In the mountains, snow fell heavily, and there winter reigned, and below it a golden autumn began.

At night, frosts to -5, but in the sun the air warms up quickly and starts to flow, it turns hot autumn. Then you freeze, then you sweat :) In the lake, the temperature of the water dropped from +12 to +9 degrees Celsius per week.

This, of course, not all photos. And the story can not be called a story, so, intrigue. But there is a Stoozerka near Jack, and there is Kuel-Sien, the Anemone and Chaika lakes, there is the Challenger peak and the crystal Sibylk-Tyellah. In this year's photo expedition, I intend to be near Challenger, and on Stoozyorka, and in general to hang around there everything that did not hang around and snoop anything that did not come up. And having insprire God himself ordered to be there and fly around these beauties. The picture below shows the tooth of the Challenger peak (2000 m high).

Now I am actively preparing for the trip, which is scheduled for the middle of August already, but it is better to cook a cart in the winter. The team is not yet fully formed, and the routes should be registered for the whole month in more detail.
