Villa d'Este
Located in Tivoli, near Rome, this 16th century villa is famous for its terraced Renaissance garden, and an abundance of fountains, grottoes, and plays of water.
An incredibly playful garden.
Many different kinds of dreamy, all within moments from each other.
My Introduction to Italy
My parents finished their studies in Italy. They got married shortly after that. Another 10 months later, I was born. They have been infatuated with Italy their whole lives. When I was little, and they needed to talk about something I wasn't supposed to understand, they would speak English to each other. At some point I could understand what they were saying, and I told them this, so they switched to Italian as their "secret language".
I learned Latin in my teenage years, but not Italian. I left them their secret language.
A few years ago, I felt I should visit this magnificent country that seems to be adored by so many. I was particularly curious about the Sabina region, the territory of the ancient Sabines.
Tivoli, and everything associated with it, was a a spontaneous development during the journey.
Villa d'Este is a also a UNESCO world heritage site.

Great eye for details and atmosphere in every of your beautiful photos. Italy is my weakness. I love it as country, as culture, language, cuisine, music, dance, art...everything. And I know quite about it. But, you brought this place to me as something new and I am grateful for that. Maybe one of my next visits to Italy. :)

The photos are incredible, fantastic work! A question about the statute 4th pic from the bottom... does she have innumerable breast and an army of (kids ? puppies?) to feed at her feet? The top photo and two above that statue are my favorite, they are mesmerizing :)

That's the fountain of Diana of Ephesus, or "Mother Nature". They were assumed to be breasts, but there are other interpretations too, such as this one:
