Changi Airport in Singapore has so much to offer travellers, especially those with long layovers between flights! I recently had a 8 hour layover there and I can tell you right now, I was definitely not bored. What I loved most about the airport is the gardens and how they've brought so much greenery into a what can sometimes be a dull, boring place.
Things to do
Free Singapore Tour
If you have at least 5 and a half hours at Changi Airport you can go on a free Singapore tour arranged by the airport. You can choose from the Heritage Tour or the City Sights Tour which run for approximately 2 and a half hours. This is a perfect way to keep you busy if you have a long layover.
Sunflower Garden
One of my favourite free things at the airport was the Sunflower Garden. If you're looking for some sunshine and an escape from the shops and travellers rushing around, then this is the perfect place for you. There are many different varieties of sunflowers to see and appreciate.
Movie Theatre
If you're looking for some entertainment then you can head straight to one of the two movie theatres. They are free of charge and both offer different genres of movies.
Butterfly Garden
This is the world's first Butterfly Garden in an airport and is such a unique attraction. You can visit for free and see around 1,000 butterflies in a beautiful tropical habitat.
Other attractions include a swimming pool, cactus garden, entertainment deck, children's playground and shops as far as your eye can see! There are also gardens in the terminals such as the one pictured below.
If you are travelling to or through Asia I would definitely recommend Changi Airport especially for layovers!
I can’t believe there is actually a sunflower garden at the airport! Wow. Way better than a lame airport bar! 🤣
