Munich Christmas Market

Hello everyone,

Munich is well known as the home of the Oktoberfest and beer, but you also need to check it out this time of the year and have a mulled wine (Glühwein) in a cold day at the traditional Christmas Market. The biggest Christmas Market in Munich is at Marienplatz, the city's main square, and dates back to 1310.

Let me share you my pictures from the Christmas Market, showing you German decorations and food:

There is a big Christmas tree at the Marienplatz:

You can find a lot of handcrafted Christmas decorations on the market.
Figures from the Christmas nativity scene (Krippenfiguren) which represent the birth of Jesus are typically found in a German Christmas Market.

Let me show you some food on the Christmas Market:

Try out German gingerbread (Lebkuchen):

or heart-shaped gingerbread:

You also have to try some German Christmas cookies (Plätzchen) besides gingerbread:

Here are some chocolate coated fruit:

When you are hungry, you have to try the famous German sausages:

also try some Sauerkraut

and of course pretzels:

This is one of many stalls selling mulled wine (Glühwein). Germans usually have a mulled wine together at the Christmas Market. It is especially nice to have mulled wine when it is cold outside.
