In autumn last year, we spent five weeks in Georgia and we fell in love with the country and especially with the amazing Georgian cuisine!
Georgia is a beautiful country in the Caucasus, the region is also called Eurasia because of its location right between Europe and Asia. Maybe this fact is also the reason for Georgias rich and diverse cuisine. You find many European, Asian, Russian and strong ottoman influences in Georgian cooking. Which is definitely a great mixture! (at least in my opinion :-))

With the following photos, I would like to introduce you to some of our favourite dishes.

There are two main national dishes the Georgians are very proud of:
One is called Khachapuri, which is a bread boat filled with cheese and topped with egg yolk and butter.

The second one is called Khinkali, which are dumplings with diverse fillings like mincemeat, potatoes or mushrooms. ( one of my favourites)

Besides these two, there are many stews and casseroles which is mostly served with delicious freshly baked bread called Puri.

On top of all these delicious foods, Georgia has a pretty nice range of local wine to offer, the main wine region is around Sighnaghi. But if you don't like wine, no problem! There is an amazing microbrewery in Tbilisi which is called Shavi Lomi (Black Lion) they have a variety of great craft beers!
