UPDATE #2 [The SteemBus Project] - THE 1968 VW STEEM BUS TRAVELING the Country!

in travel •  8 years ago

Hey Steemers! I'm happy to UPDATE you on the progress of The SteemBus Project.

The #SteemBus Project was started 3 days ago by me, a diehard steemer @brianblackman - I first posted about this vision in a quick blog without putting much thought into my words. I posted a second time yesterday with a revamped look. Though it didn't pick up much #steem , the project continues. I would love to have the backing of the community on this.

The SteemBus Project , and my 1968 VW Bus, with your help, will be transformed in just a month from now. It is currently getting body work and a paint job that is estimated at $2500. The work is being done at a local shop here on the third coast in Texas. They don't have a website, but I was able to find a small write up in the local paper.

Before turning it over to MechanixSPI for body work, I did do some major interior renovation. Though it is not complete, I'll spend the weekend I get it back finishing off the inside. Here are a few pictures of what I've done so far:

This is my son doing some minor sanding to the bumper before we turned it over to the professionals

This is some of the wood and paint work I did on the interior

This is how Steemy looked when I first got her (took out a $4200 loan to get her)

This is how she looked just prior to taking her to the body shop:

This is how she'll look when complete:

Our first destination will be The Texas Volkswagen Classic http://www.texasvwclassic.com/ to spread the word about #Steemit

We hope you join us for the ride and we look forward to updating you on the month long restoration process with pictures and more. Just search #steembus for new posts showing progress.

Thanks for your support!

I'd like to see a 3d printed Steem logo replace the VW logo on the front. That would be awesome. Good luck.

That is a great idea! We will see what sort of funds this thing generates. Might be doable.

This looks like a really fun project. Good luck!!
